I was wondering if there's any interest in setting up some game days?

Unless FT has taken them down, we do have a few servers running on Team Fortress 2. What I propose is that we set some specific days for some fun matches. There'll be no obligation to participate or stick around. Just check in, stay for a few minutes, or the whole match. It's entirely up to you.

If there's any interest in games aside from Team Fortress 2, I suggest a few guidelines to ensure a fun time for everyone;

Cheap/Free I suggest games that are only either free, or cheap enough that almost anyone should be able to afford them. In this example, I would set €4.95 as a barrier, but it's honestly not something anyone have to follow. It's just a recommendation.

Not the "newest" A few of us have beastly rigs, but in order to ensure maximum participation, it might be a good idea to stick to games that are a few years older, and have no compatibility issues. Classics are even better; UT2004, Quake, Half-Life, perhaps even Counter-Strike. Most of these are available on GOG or Steam, at a cheap price, and should be playable by even unic0rn ( :wink: :)

No bloody trash talking We're all adults here. We don't need to use virtual viagra to enlarge our e-peens, so trash talking is just a no-no. I doubt it would be an issue, but I think it ought to be suggested at least. We're here to have fun, not to diss eachothers parents and comment on genitalia sizes. Of course, it's not an absolute rule. No one should be kicked for saying their opponent's father smells of elderberries. There's humour, and there's trash talk.

I'm happy to hear suggestions. I'm very keen on the idea of a UT2004 game, personally, so that's something I hope to see :p

What about War Thunder? Beautiful-looking, free game. Among friends, it'd be a much softer atmosphere and you'd get the best out of the game without feeling beaten down by aspects like the difficult early grind of the German panzers.

The servers are still there, and under the community menu.

Scheduled games are also able to be listed there and count down towards them!

[/quote] I've played War Thunder on PS4. It's quite a fun game, and with a community of equally poor players, I imagine we could all have a good laugh. Something to consider!

Awesome! I wasn't certain if that was "up to date". Thanks!

War Thunder could work, but due to the way their matchmaker works and how their tank/crew selection theres going to be problem everyone matching same battle tiers, and its no fun to play against people 3 tiers above.

while i should be able to run UT3 just fine (ME3 didn't have a problem after all), my network connection, being a hspa modem, has a rather high latency for such games.

that, and the fact that i'm not wasting any time on gaming currently. too much to do.

I suggest the more newbie-friendly Arcade Mode, since I think I know how to work the Battle Rating System (it places you against tanks a maximum of 1.0 above the highest rating in your vehicle lineup). As for the squadding-up system, that's always been a bit annoying with the game but we can at least test our skills in a custom game (there's no XP gains in those, depressingly).
