Greetings fellow gamers. I'm looking to buy about four games for the summer in various genres. I'm hoping I can get some recommendations. Yes I have read the other threads about this topic and know that you all love Counter Strike, Half Life 2 but I'm looking for something besides those. Here are the games I played last year...

I'm looking to pick up one good game in each of 1PS, Strategy, simulation, and MMO genres.

here is what I played last year: Hitman: Contracts Thief: Deadly Shadows City of Heroes Need for Speed: Most Wanted Age of Empires III Far Cry I will be picking up Hitman: Blood Money this summer on May 31st.

Games I'm not interested in or have played a little...

Counter Strike (played) Half Life 2 (played) Doom 3 (played) Quake 4 (played and NI) Battlefield 2 (played and NI) Civilization 4 (played and NI, a great set up but I hate turn-based games and having to work with tiles like that)

I liked Age of Empires but it lacked good 3d graphics. I'm looking to get into a new stategy game though. In the realm of 1st person shooters I doubt anything can top Far Cry with it's perfect balance between scenery, freedom, graphics but I'm willing to give a few things a try. What do you think?

Ah wrong forum, woops. Hopefully a moderator can move this to General Gaming instead of general discussion.

Depends what your computer specs are I would only tell you to play Oblivion if your computer can run it. Head to your local eb games.

Non computer specs dependant FPS: BattleField 1942 - A must, you can buy BF42 with expansions for about $20, then download the Forgotten Hope mod V.0.7 and Mr Cheese's Realistic texture pack RPG: Elderscrools Oblivion (or morrowind (with expansions) if you computer is a bit slow) -Award winning RPG(s), a must. RTS : Cnc - The first decade , all the cnc games in one pack, the same price as one game. RTS - Empire building Rise of Nations , with expansion pack - A game in a class for itself, it mixes Civ and various RTS games. TRY IT... ITS NOT LIKE CIV, and its not turn based MMO: City of Villians Sneakers: Hitman 2 - The best Hitman game so far, I can't stop playing it, the music is more than exelent, the story line is okay, and the graphics still do.

Thanks Irwin!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate those recommendations. They all look so solid. I'm running a 3200+ with 1GB of Ram, and a 256MB Radeon 9600Pro. I've had it for a year now and I'm about to upgrade a few things. I think it will run all of your recommendations at least on low settings. I'm going out to pick up two more GB of ram pretty soon and I'm sure that will help. It's also time for a little overclocking...heh.

At this point you think it's worth picking up Guild Wars? Or has it already had it's time?

Oh, and yes the Hitman Games kick @$$. I played them in reverse order. Loved contracts so had to play 2, and then 1. I'm waiting with anticipation for Blood Money. Should be amazing.

Ha Dark, I've been waiting for someone to ask me that. Hitman is just an amazing concept. Eidos and the other company involved in its development have created such a sweet character with the Hitman (codenamed "Agent 47"). There are three games so far with a fourth due out May 31st. The plots of each are intertwined. The levels in the games are each a high-paying hit job. The levels are free-roaming for the most part. You use a miriad of disguises, weapons, and creative strategies in planning and executing your hit. It's so sweet man, honestly.
