No, that wouldn't explain why many people are getting it all of a sudden with 2.1. Anyways, I have a 128 mb GeForce FX5200 along with 550 mb RAM. That is more than enough for the game. If you take a look at the end of the general protection fault for almost anyone, the problem is almost always in the same place, thus telling us that there is some sort of conflict in the coding there.

Ensign RilesThe answer is still the same. It isn't you, it is the game. It won't go away until they release a patch addressing that issue, and hopefully that is before Overmatch which is due in March of 2005.

The Ensign is right, everyone is having the GPF problem. you can even see people complaining about it on AA`s own forums. About the reboots, I haven`t heard of the game doing that. Your CPU might be overheating or your power supply might be taxed by your graphics card, or other hardware.

If it is really giving you problems, go into the setup mode the next time you start your computer up. Select a higher temperature in which the computer will shut off automatically. However, I don't recommend you doing this for two reasons, setting it too high can literally fry the CPU, and that isn't fun to replace. Second, if you don't know a lot about computers it isn't hard to accidently change something without noticing. If it frequently overheats you probably should get a new cooling system.

I heard somewhere (on a server actually) that if you spectate other people than yourself then you get this error. I have found this to be the case on most of the servers i go on and it seems to solve the problem if you stay on your own death cam. This might not sound like the most interesting of things to do but at least you'll save all the points you will have racked up that round when it doesnt crash. Hope this helps.

JUST FOR THE RECORD... REBOOTS ARE A REAL THING WITH THIS PROBLEM. My comp reboots only when playing AA... I know this game is hot (at least when it works) but not hot enough to overheat my computer. (if you want the meat of this rant skipp the blurb)

WOW! It has been forever and a freaking day since I last posted something... and if any of you remember about my tyraids about this that and the other you should know that if I keep shut up about anything that usually means one of two things... 1)I'm too freaking busy to do anything recreational, or 2) everything is OK, cheaters are at a minimum, the dev's are doing things right and the amount of no good sniper wanna be's are leting the pro's do the work. Anyways to get down to buissnes...

I have AAO installed on 3 computers in my house. one in a machine with next to nothing for RAM, an ancient vid card that I can't even remember what it is and it has a P4 in it running XP... that one works fine. The other two computers however far surpass that old machine but I get the GPF's and reboots on both.... my observation is that both are running GeForce vid cards. I have downloaded the latest drivers, the 2.10 full install, reinstalled the game and nothing works. If I were to go back down to 2.00a wouldn't that mess with which servers I can play on? Anyway I'm going to try and delete that file but I'm afraid that it is a compadibility problem between the game and the GeForce card... maybe if you tried disabling geForce acceleration temporarily that might work... in fact I'm going to try that right now... be back in a few and i'll let you know something.

ok, for me and other people this error only occurs when playing Bridge Crossing. the solution given on the AA web site says that it usually happens when watching in 3rd person mode. so basically u got 2 options: 1- leave the camera on u being dead 2- switch to another player and immediately switch to 1st person mode ('e' is the default key). i've done that second option every time i play bridge crossing, and its been working really well, try it out

It would be so helpful for all these people wondering what this problem is if the forum moderators would sticky this thread or create an announcement.
