Knight of MarsBeater of Ass

So, a good amount of members of this forum have had the chance to beta test Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.
What are your impressions about the game so far? What's one thing you really liked, one thing about the game you didn't like, and one thing you are hopeful to see in the launch?
I liked... The story. Epic story, for every class I've played. I felt like I was really playing out a Star Wars movie. It was like KOTOR, but immensely more involved. I Didn't Like... Animations in general, from emotes to combat. Everything just felt too stiff. Even running/walking- it looked like my toon had a lightsaber up his... you know.
I'm hopeful to see... A better UI set-up, with more options, like a ping-able mini-map/radar (like in Guild Wars).
Overall, I'd give the game, in its current state, a 7 out of 10. What about you?
My face hurts.

I was really impressed.
But Im with you here, It was stiff indeed, almost no freedom. A lot of restrictions in the maps and so. This kind of worries me but overall? Fantastic game, I'm blown away by the work that has gone into this story. Im really looking forward to this!

9/10. Fantastic game!

I liked the way that the story is fluid with it's environment, graphics I'm neutral on. I don't like the way the camera absolutely requires manual switching. Some of the quests seem to short and easy, but otherwise, I'm having a blast with it!

I only played the beta for a few minutes, the graphics and gameplay just seemed rather bland. The cutscenes are good, but that's about it.

Love that the opinion that "the entire game except for the cutscenes is bad" came from "a few minutes."
I'm surprised you spent so long downloading the client if you didn't even intend to give it a fair chance.

I didn't really spend a lot of time downloading it and as for a fair chance, maybe I'll try it again tomorrow.

I liked the story. It was quite well done. I also liked the nature. The way they actually paid attention to nature, and made it fairly realistic, I was quite impressed. I did not like the graphics. I still say they are a bit cartoonish. I would be much more impressed if they had used graphics more like TSL, but updated. I also did not like the way that the movements were indeed very stick figure like, even AFTER the developers had stated that they wanted movie-like action. There is a great deal to be improved here. I also HATED, and STILL HATE my computer! Even on the lowest setting, I was only able to get maybe a half-hour of play at a time before the game made my computer entirely crash, over, and over, and over. The game simply demanded TOO MUCH. I think I just took a few years off the life of my computer. Thankfully, I am currently in the process of saving up for a new(er) machine.

It's alright. Not as good as it could be, but it's definitely got my interest, for an MMO, which is saying quite a bit. I'm not really the MMO type, but I gave this one a try.
The crashes are biggest problem for me, and some of the side effects that come along with them. For example:
Crashed during a PvP arena, and it locked my game in the arena. That was pretty lame. Crashed out, reset my second hotbar bindings, as well as hiding my companion UI.
I dunno, it depends on what I do on Monday.

I'll give my opinion on TOR when my trousers have calmed down from playing it...:naughty:
