can anyone help? The Godfather game I meet the requirement: it has some kinda problem maybe someone else has run into this problem: After agreeing filling in the CD-Key and having agreed on license that is a blank, i get a message saying that I need DirectX 9.0c or higher. Installation aborts at that point. Running Dxdiag proves version 9.0c is installed on my pc.

It might be your video card. What kind of card do you have?
Yes, you would think it would ask you to install off the cd. It does not. However I have gone to all places that will give you the information of what directX you are running and all say I have 9c. Already took this game back to store and got another copy same thing happens. I go to install then ask for code User codes then the licence agreement comes up but its blank. I say yes anyway. the next message is that telling me I need to go and get directx 9c ancd install it first. Video card is Radeon 9800 pro 128 My memory 1280 MB On Dell Dimension 8100 pen 4 running XP This is really crazy I can run any other game I stuck in King Kong runs fine. I spent all day yesterday trying to figure out what the heck? and also can't find any information about this although I did find one other person this happend to on game spot no answers though.

Try reinstalling dx 9. Yours could be corrupt or something.

x2 the godfather is really just a RPG rip of Mafia, its ironic since Mafia was inspired by the gangster movies like godfather and goodfellas. back on topic Ati cards are very touchy when it comes to dirext x support specially older generations like 9800, the thing to do is uninstall your drivers and reinstall with the latest version, then reinstall direct x , if the game has an option not to run on direct x and use open gl instead, choose that option.
I have Mafia and I agree its such a cool game ... was the reason I got this one ok let me go about trying uninstall of drivers and reinstall it and directx Really appreicate the help here guyes Thanks will get back to you if I ever get this running . :)

I have had a strange problem like that before but with something else (the name eludes me right now) and I don't think I ever got it to work. Some games I think are just really picky and don't like computers with or without certain things on them. I honestly never got King Kong to run on my computer, but it ran on an older computer I have in the house for some strange reason or another. Formatting your hard drive is always a pretty surefire way to fix it but not something you want to do. You could always have someone else do it for you like some hacker did to me :D I love people...
Well I have done everything, Except sail this 40 dollar cd across the planet. This is really unacceptable. I have insatlled hundreds of games this is not user friendly and I have even shut down the stuff running in the task manager to try to get it to run. Also went in upon its tech advice in its files to copy paste a dx file from the cd of game to windows system32 folder.... I have had it.. I will mail to my brother it will probably run just great first time out for him. Thanks so much everyone your help and advice:)
