I gotta few Q:'s and this is from what I can see the best place I've Found yet to join and ask questions and actually get feedback. I run a Lan center in Akron,OH - Gaming / Lan W/E.... Im trying to bring some new gamers in and advertise the right games on the site to help do this. #1: Our forums are DEAD and I dont know why... So our own forums are not a big help here...
When you LAN GAME / or even network game INET. ... What Do you like better? Are some games better than others on LAN, vs Net like BF2 do to huge bandwidth usages???..
FPS/RTS/ Ect..... What are the can I do to help the Lan grow???? Not only do we need People, I need new Idea's.. Comments welcomed!!!!!!
All the best, Knoppix
Run a competition.. Like a tournament 10 bux to get in money to top 3 finishers. <----For individual Then for teams 50 bux entry per team, winning team takes all. As of games, there's always BF2, CS, CS:S, DOD, you know the popular ones...
RTS games are good too: dawn of war, warcraft, battle for middle earth. we have a place like that in my town called "the cortex" sheck it out for ideas http://www.thecortex.us/core/modules/news/ good luck
Try Unreal tournament or RTS games
Warcraft, C&C and Starcraft series work great over lans.
Meh! FPS For the win! CSS, BF2 with lots of people will own! CSS is great for 15-20 people. BF2 is great for 30+!
Thank You, I've updated my site a little and are working on some structure for a few Tournaments. Im going to try a few $100.00 Tourneys... TY for imput... Now I need to search the net to help me figure out how to build structure for BF2 League's, and CS1.6, the hard one for me will be the War Hammer Ladder.... Got any structure Idea's... lol All the best, KnoPpiX
For a more teamwork and realistic game try Joint Operations. I played the coop once LAN and it was so bloody good. You all sit together assign a sqaud leader and take out the good AI!!! And you all travel around like a family in a Blackhawk or a hummer or drive the hummer into a chinook, whatever you want.
I attend LAN parties regularly, I might be able to give you a few tips. If you're going for more than 10 players, you'll probably want to charge for entry - say $50 per person. Once you have this, subtract the money that you have spent on the venue/food/drink/etc from the total, and combine the rest to have as a tournament prize. Secondly, you need to have a varied games selection. I find that RTS games and FPS shooters go down well - Games like Half-Life/HL2, Far Cry, UT2004, C&C Generals and SWAT4 are generally very popular.
