I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

I'm curious about one thing though. We all know Rockstar have been, to say the least, lazy at porting Grand Theft Auto titles to PC in the past. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas had custom radio stations but otherwise were just direct ports that weren't that well optimised for hardware of the era.

GTA IV was a whole other level of mess on PC.

Do you think that with the extra features, First Person Shooter gameplay mode, superior graphics, etc. that they'll actually do a decent job of getting this to run on PC hardware, or is it just going to be a sloppy port of a nice PS4 / Xbone port?

.....I'm kinda fearing the latter.

The PC market is, once again, extremely strong and diverse. GTAIV was released in an era when consoles were the platform that was making the most money and PC gaming was just bad port after bad port. We can thank Steam and others, this has changed. The new generation of consoles isn't monopolizing core gaming anymore, so it wouldn't be just unlikely, but entirely idiotic on their part to port a broken game.

Even the delay, compared to the next-gen releases, may be beneficial to ironing out bugs and the like (though it's most likely to boost the console sales). I'm optimistic this time around, especially since their main competitor (Saints Row) has been putting out decent ports since the 3rd installment (though they still require a bit of work).

Well, one thing I've learned is that where the developer fails to deliver, the community does, and usually with far better results than the developers ever conceived.

If they can do it to the same quality level as Max Payne 3 then I have hope for the PC version.

Also, the rumor that the PC version has been in dev the longest (per some of the bug logs) could mean that the console versions were ports of the PC version but who the hell knows.

Hopefully. To be fair the Xbox and PS4 share a lot more in common with the PC now then they ever used too, so I'm hopeful that it'll be good. They do seem to have gone all in on it.

Excited either way!

To be honest, I actually have been thinking if I should buy a PS4, just to play GTA5, or if I should wait to see if the PC version is capable of running on my machine. At least if I buy a PS4, I know for a fact that it will run GTA5.

Probably cheaper to wait and see?

I admit, I was tempted to (eventually) get a PS4 for GTAV. For all the problems that GTAIV had, I did enjoy the hell out of it on the PS3. My (new) PC can't run GTAIV on ultra (or even high).

But ultimately, I don't think it's worth it. The PS Plus thing alone is a turn off. I'd rather drop the resolution and pay the standard game price with a gamepad and roll with it.

Did you ever play the Carmageddon mod for GTA4? You barely touch a car, and it goes flying! Out of control cars everywhere! Now THAT was insanity, and so much fun! :-D
