Just finished Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and the ending left me eager! Anybody know if or when Half-Life 3 may come out if there even is one?

Edit: Never mind. I kinda found this. Half-Life 2: Episode Three - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :(

There will be a Half-Life 2: Episode 3 after this one, concluding the series of episodes. As far as I've heard, the release date for Episode 3 hasn't been announced yet.

As for Half-Life 3, if Half-Life 2 was anything to go by you can expect to see it some time in 2016...

Tell me about it. Myself and other fans (don't know if you're included in that) had to wait six or seven years between the awesome Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2. But to be honest, I'd rather Valve take their time, delaying whenever necessary, and come out with a quality piece of software, rather than rush and churn out some utter garbage like certain other developers I won't mention.

I never had a chance to play HL1 before 2 came out. I just remember looking at the graphics and thinking, yes please. Then I started delving into the story and finding out how deep the game was, and then I got excited. It was a total materpeice and had so much variation and different puzzles. And again, the pseudo-1984-ish City 17 was very awesome.

Valve has indicated Episode 3 will likely benefit from quad core optimization with more advanced AI, physics and effects than the prior titles have had. There's also a bit of a hint in Episode 2 that we may see the Portal gun in Episode 3. In the video conference between Alyx and her father you can see that the containers on the Borealis say Aperture Science on them. The Portal gun would open up some very nice gameplay possibilities in Episode 3, but as far as I'm concerned they need to make it longer than Episode 2 was for the series to have a climactic ending.

that wait was horrible as they kept saying this year its out then delaying another year but it was definatly worth it. i dont mind waiting for the next one now as they are masterpieces of game design the story is just so compelling.

I wouldn't mind them taking so long, but when they keep bumping back release dates to accomodate themselves, that's really annoying. If it's going to take two years to finish then just tell us now, rather than repeatedly getting our hopes up.

The up side to this, however, is that I've never played a bad game of Half-Life. Ever. They're all brilliantly well designed.

It's a good thing I didn't know about Half-Life until I got Half-Life 2.
