Half-life 2 has much more gameplay than doom 3, even though the gfx aren't as good. my vote goes to HL2

I voted HL2. Not only because of everyones reasons so far but also because the expansion for Doom 3 stole the gravitiy gun idea from Half Life 2. Except they called it a really lame name, The Grabber.

Half-Life 2 was way better as a complete package; good story, physics to screw around with, and the engine ran a ton smoother. My computer could run HL2 on high, whereas I had to play Doom 3 on low everything.

I say Half-Life 2!

I agree Loc....

Both are good for their own reasons. Doom 3 beats Hl2 in the visuals department, ultra looks amazing. Hl2 runs smoother on low end PC's though.

The game play is similar, shoot, then shoot, and shoot, then OMFGZ! a puzzle!

Most definetly sounds like a name for a weapon in a game that senseless six year olds play:lol:

This is actually quite a hard choice for me:uhm: because I really enjoy both of the games but I would say Half Life 2 for now because of the better mods.

Half-Life 2 has a half-decent storyline, which in my opinion is the only thing which keeps the amazingly repetitive first-person-shooter genre from falling into a pit of dull, pointless repetition (see what I did there?!?!4). It also has stupendous gameplay -- well-paced action that never gets dull, great variety in environments which forces you to change your tactics numerous times, and even some fast-paced vehicle action. Doom 3 didn't have a half-decent storyline. The gameplay wasn't even as good as some rivals, which was disappointing. I consider Doom 3 to be little more than a demo of ID's new graphics engine. Half-Life 1, however, takes them both, stomps on them, flushes them down the toilet, then sets fire to them at the other end and then finally snacks on them whilst watching 'Showgirls'. KotOR 1 then catches HL1 with its trousers down and devours it, and thus the food chain is complete.

Graphic, yet accurate. we won't even go into what happens when Final Fantasy 7 finds kotor1, because children might read this.
