I think DOOM on nightmare is the hardest FPS i've ever played.
DOOM 2 for me. I never played the first DOOM. I must say, Quake (the first one, ofcourse) was also quite hard on Nightmare difficulty level.
The first SOCOM game. It took me forever just to beat it on the easiest difficulty, I can't imagine (and I don't want to) what it would be like on the very hardest.
That, and the rain of grenades on CoD:WAW Veteran difficulty.
Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on their hardest levels. Patience is a must in order to beat the game at the hardest difficulty setting. NOTE: Both of these games were made by Rare Entertainment.
The original Doom games were pretty hard. I think the winner goes to Doom 3 on Nightmare, though. Unlike the previous games, you have to aim up and down. =p
Seriously, though. Enemies do ridiculous damage and swallow infinite amounts of bullets, and there's no fucking light anywhere.
All the Dooms on Nightmare were extremely hard. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six on the hardest setting was absolute insanity. If you haven't had the chance yet, play Crysis on Delta mode. Yowza.
Erm, I'd say the last level of COD 4, the secret mission. It took me four hours of endless play to finally complete it for my 1K Gamerscore for COD 4.
I thought Crysis on its Delta was fucking hard but it all goes to the DooM games/
Cod4 mile high club on veteran....still can't do it

Flashbangs. Use them. All the time. Everywhere.
