Hatred is a game by some Polish developers no one has ever heard of and it seems all you basically do is kill innocent people in brutal ways because you hate humanity. It was apparently too much for Steam and they pulled it from Greenlight. Have to admit, after watching the gameplay trailer, it really is rather off-putting.

I think I'm in love!

But seriously though...I can kind of see where they're coming from. I mean, GTA series was always very brutal but I guess they never did actually show the gritty details of actual wounds.

Also...yeah...I don't think I'll be watching that trailer a second time :uhm:

Hey, just change the 'innocent people' being killed into some generic aliens/mutants/zombies/badpeople, and you've got yourself a typical AAA game!

It'll become about zombies. Everything these days is about zombies. Zombies are overused.

I'm all for cathartic violence. I still vividly remember that time in GTA2 when one of the gangs had me steal a bus, fill it with passengers and then drive it into a meat-grinder to make burgers for the gang members. It was a great, memorable mission that has yet, after 15 years, to make me ponder turning people into burgers.

I'm disappointed at Steam, but their house, their rules. Honestly I don't mind the nature of the content, my only genuine concern is that there is a reason why GTA's sandbox mission-driven: aimless violence can get boring after a while.

Looks like a massacre simulator, the Columbine style coat doesn't help. The media is going to have a field day with that...

Yeah, but to be fair, there is typically some sort of reasoning behind those games. Saving the world, saving your family, etc. When the context is about killing people because you're angry, then I think it's a bit different. =p

I don't think it should be banned from Steam though. Ryojin is correct, the only actual difference is the context. People *cough* teenagers *cough* are going to play this regardless, if only for the sheer controversy alone.

I can already imagine my mother asking me about it after it gains larger media attention.

GTA has always had a cartoon-ish presentation style and wild sense of humor which means anyone with half a brain cell would never take seriously.

This is fucked up.

That being said, I honestly wouldn't mind it being released. I don't think I'd play it but I don't want to have developers feel they can't express themselves however they feel.

But, it's fair to say, this is going to be rocket fuel for the anti-video game brigade.

I will buy it just to piss off the censorship brigade...

Beyond that, I will probably put it in my backlog and play it when I have nothing else handy...
