I was initially rather sceptical, especially since Square Enix are publishing and their stuff tends to be horrible, but this does look rather sweet:

17 minutes. Don't try to watch on youtube, it will want you to sign in....

Best game in the series is still contracts, IMO, purely because there were so many ways to do the missions. I remember there was this Chinese restaurant hit; and you get all sorts of complicated walkthroughs for it to do it quickly. I discovered you can just climb the building opposite and shoot the guys through the window. =p

The mechanics for Bloodmoney were better of course, less twitchy disguise system.

Some people don't like the instinct thing - but really, you had a map that showed everyone on the level before.... I don't think it's a great break in theme.

It does look cool actually, but most elements seem to be picked from other games: the visibility thing from Splinter Cell Conviction and obviously the "instinct" system, the ledge kill and the "hide in plain sight" from Assassin's Creed. I believe the instinct system should be left out, or atleast disabled if playing in hardest difficulty. Besides that, like I said, it looks awesome. I especially liked how the tie was hanging around.

I was skeptical at first with the Instincts thing, but then I realized, wait, I'm always skeptical whether I'll even like the next Hitman game that comes out period, because literally every one of them I've played involved tedious trial and error stealth segments. It's fun for a while, but then you realize replay value shouldn't be about frustrating do overs. Add to that a checkpoint only system and it gets old real fast.

So even though it's a bit over the top and gives you the AI's planned path and all, Instinct is no more sci fi than a map that magically locates all AI, and more appropriate than bulky, military thermal vision goggles. You've always had to suspend disbelief a bit with any Hitman title anyway. Just the fact that a completely bald guy with a bar code on the back of his head would be fairly easily recognizable even with a disguise for instance.

The way I see it, you can use Instincts your first play through to get to know the AI paths, navigation ledges, etc, then not use it if Hard mode still has it. It's also about time they FINALLY made the combat more livable. In the past you always had to force yourself to use stealth as much as possible. Honestly I like that they made it with SC and AC features, it needed it, and it still has it's own style. Looks like it's plenty playable with checkpoints now too, whereas in past titles I longed for quicksave.

Love the humor too btw, everything from the cop dialog, to the hippy hideout to the doughnut stealth is quite good. Only thing unrealistic about the latter is he's the only cop interested in the doughnuts. LOL

47 walking with his face covered around all of those stationary cops didn't look suspicious at all. Especially after a number of them seem to be pretty quiet after looking for a hitman back in the library. ;)

I'm really looking forward to this though.

Yeah I was going to mention that, but forgot. Seems to me the better stealth mechanic was distractions of some kind, like the famous Hitman coin toss. You always have to accept a certain amount of odd features with any Hitman game.
