*Note to all moderators and admins: please dont move this to the total war section, no one will ever see it there b/c no one ever goes down to the TW section anymore except me - thanks*
Anyway - did anyone else play this game? It came out maybe 2/3 or so years ago a lil while after Rome: Total War came out. It boasted something along the lines of "you've commanded the massive battles in the TW games - now live them!"
How bad was this game? Seriously, it was straight up horrible! The point of the game for those outside the know was that you played as a Spartan defending your city against the Roman invaders...yet that goes on for maybe 2 levels and then you end up at Troy and some sewers and dungeons etc it all ends with a face off with Ares, the god of war...
This game was just a lame version of God of War if you ask me, it was so bad - the voice acting was terrible the graphics were sub-par and the game was a non-fun hack n' slash...plus it misled anyone who wanted to play it...it sounded good back before it was released when they said you got to fight in the kind of epic battles the series is known for...now you hardly see anything about it...it didnt even earn a spot on the TW website now...which I find funny.

I havent tried it, nor will I ever. I pretty much assumed from the start that it would be some lame God of War knockoff.
And it basically is...I couldnt even believe that they actually made the end the same (i.e. facing Ares as the final boss)

A great reason the Total War people should stick to strategy games.
It was not bad at all, infact one of the better PS2 games, a good plot, intresting characters, great gameplay, challenging bosses.
I played it a long time ago. I thought it was pretty fun.
i didnt think it was that bad i enjoyed but then i never played god of war before
I played it, and found it to be a decent game. I don't agree with the GoW comparisons though. In my opinion, GoW is more comparable to Onimusha or Devil May Cry, whereas Spartan is more like Dynasty Warriors. In other words, Spartan is easier and simpler, but GoW is deeper and more rewarding.
