I actually liked World at War, myself. The single player was kind of fun, and honestly, I despise World War II games.

Didn't much care for the multiplayer or silly co-op thing, though.

I never tried the MP, I was too annoyed by the SP shortcommings.

If IW made a Pacific-theater WW2 game, I bet it would have been epic. To date, nobody has made a good WW2 Pacific game.

The Pacific lends itself best to a strategy game rather than an FPS, if you ask me.

It's probably one of the best examples of early combined arms that exist - air, navy and land played a largely equal role.

Unfortunate ly there hasn't been a decent strategy game based on that theatre either!

I have to admit for a 'modern' COD game the campaign was quite good and accurate at that. The online was ok, i enjoyed it but it lacked alot of balance.

I'm not even going to buy blackops, it looks terrible and it will be terrible. I'm getting reach instead.

I liked World at War just as much as CoD4, its one of my favorite WW2 games. I played MW2 at a friends house and it was pretty fun, but i wasn't impressed enough to actually buy it. Maybe when the price drops a bit i'll pick it up, but for now, there are far more interesting games to play.

Judging from the trailer I saw for Black Ops, it looks like its a CoD style game, with Bad Company elements.

Medal of Honor 1, Call of Duty 1, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty MW, Call of Duty MW2, Bad Company 2...

All played in this order for the past eight years or so, all extremely similar to each other. I... I'm so done with this genre. The ride has been fun, but there are only so many years I can spend playing pretty much the same game and get excited about the next one. Ill buy Battlefield 3 whenever that gets released assuming it's an upgrade to Battlefield 2 in all the fields and not another MW2/BF2 hybrid, other than that... meh.

It doesn't bother me that they are all very similar. of course they will be, they are all FPS after all and will follow the trend that seems to make the most money.

In fact I kind of like how similar they are as that means there are essentially more maps, campaign etc.

Oh by all means, it's a fantastic thing for a fan of the genre that he gets constants expansions and improvements of a working formula. Hell... I've enjoyed it. The only reason I mention my approach to this is that it's a fresh one. Black Ops is the first installment of the "big three" that sparked zero-to-no interest in me. Whereas both MW2 and BC2 were things I actually, honestly, awaited since the announcement.
