NiteStryker;5386022I did not care one iota for WaW. It could have been a good game in its own right but not attached to the CoD franchise. The game didnt have the feel of any other CoD game. Same with CoD 3. They felt different. Not the same CoD as 1, 2 or 4. Plus I found it far too difficult a game. I even tried the easiest setting and I couldnt get past the last level.

True, it certainly wasn't your typical done to death CoD with Captain Price somehow miraculously reappearing time and again despite being killed in CoD 1 on the ship. The Pacific elements had a feel more like what MoH Pac Assault should have been, but wasn't. WaW was different because it encompassed that Pac element that no other CoD game before it did and didn't cling to the tired old characters IW's CoD keeps using. It was also different of course because it definitely challenged the player more.

I found all that refreshing though. The only big negative for me was that every IW CoD game is much better optimized, which is very noticeable on my older spec. I have to say though that if you couldn't beat it even on the easiest level, it's clear that IW CoD titles are much more run n gun than WaW, and that makes them far less realistic.

The only parts that became annoying for me was the start of Blowtorch & Corkscrew and Heart of the Reich when playing on Veteran. I did through persevering find an easier way to play the flak gun part of HotR though, but I do mean easIER, not easy. With BT&C though, you just have to be on your toes approaching that damn cave, it's brutal.

I have a neighbor that has a fairly good quad core gaming rig that always plays his games on easy mode. He likes to be able to run right up to enemies and gun them down without taking cover. I can't stand playing a war game without feeling like you HAVE to take cover a lot and time your advances. It's just not realistic otherwise. I want that feeling of fear and trepidation whilst hearing bullets whiz by and explosions going off, not knowing how long I'll be safe at the cover I'm using. That's what war is all about.

I went back and played all the way through CoD 1, United Offensive and CoD 2 the other day on Veteran using realism mods that make them harder. I used to think those games were hard, but compared to WaW they feel like arcade games vs the feeling of real war scenarios. What sets apart an average war game from a great one is the average ones will always have easy ways to beat them. In WaW, you really can't beat it easily on the higher difficulty levels, it feels like war.

Metall_pingwin;5386839Medal of Honor 1, Call of Duty 1, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty MW, Call of Duty MW2, Bad Company 2...

All played in this order for the past eight years or so, all extremely similar to each other. I... I'm so done with this genre. The ride has been fun, but there are only so many years I can spend playing pretty much the same game and get excited about the next one. Ill buy Battlefield 3 whenever that gets released assuming it's an upgrade to Battlefield 2 in all the fields and not another MW2/BF2 hybrid, other than that... meh.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Call of Duty 1, Call of Duty UO, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty MW, Battlefield 1943 Call of Duty MW2, Bad Company 2.

Each one an improvement over the last, but the greatest leap was from MoH AA to CoD 1. With the introduction to the prone position and use of ironsights, it was the biggest difference.

Now, its all about new icing on the cake. With the same features expected, I think MW was only famous for killstreaks. MW2 improved on the killstreak features. Black Ops looks like it just adds new/different ones. Im not seeing a major step in evolution for the FPS genre.

I think MW was famous for it breaking the shell of WW2 trends in COD... Sometimes its more fun to use a modern weapon as compared to wooden rifle, bolt-action and outdated technology.

Although, I don't think theres much to be improved on MW2 except bring back the leaning feature. Maybe turn multiplayer back to the first MW, where normal games don't seem like hardcore mode, and hardcore mode actually made a difference.

Exactly. They have pretty much run out of things to do now. they won't drastically change the gameplay as that will ruin them and all they can do is visit new periods of time with new weapons and perks.

Wow, MOH wins for me... Guns definitely feel more... Guns-y and hard hitting when compared to MW2. If they are actually optimized for PC gameplay with Bad Company 2 graphics, I might be in, because honestly; Bad company 2 wasn't the most optimized game.

 BC 2 rules dude.

But I'm not that big of a fan of FPS' anymore. Ever since COD4 thats all there has been really. Not many good RPG's or RTS' for my liking. yes there have been a few like starcraft and dragon age but nowhere near ebough for my liking,.

Quite frankly I'm sick of the amount of kids on all the COD's.

Granyaski;5386321Actually since I played...well...bought bad company 2 I haven't played MW2 or any other COD game since.

Ditto. I was adamant nothing would be better than MW2.. Then I played BC2 and was blown away.

It may not be as pretty, the guns may not be as detailed, but Rush mode is so fucking epic to play. I never played anything but TDM on MW2 (all CoD games even) because the maps really weren't big enough to have a good experience on. As a first timer to the Battlefield series, it's gotten me hooked. I may buy Black Ops when it comes down in price (like fuck I'm paying close to £50 for it), but I will be getting Battlefield 3.

I know, rush mode is soo fucking good. best FPS game mode I've ever played. One thing I think BC2 has over MW2 is that it is more team based. On COD if you have around 2 amazing people on your team then you pretty much win. On battlefield you could have the best player in the world but could still lose as he needs support. I myself love playing the medic class and reviving all my teammates.

I'll probably get Black ops after halo reach just for the sake of it.

Dragonelf68;5387322Nite. I see your Black Ops, and raise you a Medal of Honor.

Definitely looks good. It almost makes me wonder if IW will give up on continuing MW and just try to get their money owed because so far this looks to be huge competition in the modern war genre.

It looks and feels like real combat without the over the top CoD gimmicks. I like how the weapon switching, zoom, character movement all look crisp and fast. Weapons, sounds and effects all look/sound great too.

Hard to tell yet, but it appears it might also be well optimized. Your sig freaks me out. Almost thought I had mouse problems for a second. LOL
