Ok, so about 2 - 3 weeks ago I decided to preload Day of Defeat Source. I had just gotten the original Day of Defeat days earlier and loved it. So I preloaded it, no problem.
A few days later when I had the money, I decided to preorder the game. Ok. Fine. I got a nice little pop up error that said "Specificed Subscription is not avialable for credit card purchase". So, I was thinking that mabey Valve and Steam were not taking preorders yet.
A few days and conversations later, I found out that it was Steam giving me a problem. (Those 2 words, "Steam", and "Problem", are almost always in the same sentence). So, I emailed tech support.
-1 week later-
Those smart guys at Valve come up with the brilliant solution of "Restarting my Computer".
So I do it just for the hell of it (Steam has yet to heal itself after the one hundredth restart). I tell em it didnt work. Then they say it may be a firewall issue. So they say I have to create exceptions in my Trend Micro firewall and allow access to several ports and free access to the Steam program. So I manage to find out how to do that. (They basicially go from telling me to add 2 and 2, to doing calculus).
So I went onto a friend's Steam Account who didnt have DoD Source and then tried to buy it. Vola, it worked. For him. Then we tried it again, and HE got the error now.
If Valve is gonna make me use their crap software then at least have prompt tech support. It took 1.5 weeks for an initial response. Activision responded within 72 hours when I emailed them.

I liked Valve. Until they gave publishing rights to EA for all of their games.
I have alwase hated the Valve corprates, i dont hate the people who worked very hard to bring us these games, just the people who make the desicions at valve.
I didn't make it!
That's weird, I didn't have any problems with buying DOD: Source. Although I do have several other problems with steam. My friends network hasn't worked for months, and I'm always having mic issues. Valve still have a lot of work to do if they want to create a problem-free Steam.

i haven't had any problem with Valve, but i dont like the way Steam just sit in the background even when im not using it.
as for DoD :Source well i payed up and so far im not impressed, but will give it more time until i get used to it
Thinking about it.
I hate it :(. To many problems.
Since the release of DoD Source I've been having a problem w/HL2 & DoD Source. When I go to either of those 2 games the intro won't load. I've found that when I hit escape 3 times they come up ready to play. I've tried it several times & the games will not work unless I hit escape 3x. HL2 always worked before so it must be a recent problem.
Is anyone else having this happen?
EDIT: Just went to steam & HL2 & DoD S updated & both seem to work fine now.
