Hello people i've been away from these forums for a long time aside from the occasional visit.

Well as the title says I'm looking for a new game and would love some suggestions. What I love are immersive RPGs and strategy / sim type games. Recently i've been playing a lot of oblivion. My all time favorites are Ultima 7 Neverwinter Nights Civilization 2 and the master of orion series.

....Now for the other shoe I'm running windows Vista and I want something that isn't going to be a humongous hassle to get running. I've got a dual core laptop with 4 gigs of ram and a pretty modern video card (the model escapes me)

I'm equally open to modern and somewhat older games. I also loove thames that are moddable without having to be a programmer or scripting wizard

Well I look forward to seeing what yall have to say.

Guild Wars. No monthly fees, contracts, and/or strings attached. You buy the game, you get to play the game without buying the right to play it every month.

If you don't mind monthly fees, though, I recommend Lord of the Rings Online.

civilisation wooo. Anyway if you want a good RPG get fable 2 (if you have a 360) also lots of achievements for it too. if you be bovered to pay WoW is brilliant, guild wars is very plain in my opinion. You could be one of the people who get lost in Spore, if it's your thing theres hours of fun!. Command and conquer's are very good RTS' and the online is always worth it, very addictive.

Mr. Pedantic;4879504WoW?

I don't think we want him to turn into one of those things.

Guild Wars is a safe bet. I'll recommend Diablo 2 because it's so good you replay it at least five times. Each play through takes around 25 hours, so that's somewhat getting lost in a game.

I played LOTRO for a while loved it, but then one by one all the people i had been used to hanging out with and questing with dissapeared. Played WoW for a while never got into that as much.

The thing that keeping me from going back to LOTRO is it's been like eight months since I left and my characters have probably all been deleted. I'm sure my house has been foreclosed on lol.

for a sim type game, check out DCS Black Shark, it's the best recent Flight sim out there...

For RPG: go with Fallout 3

For strategy: depends on your play style...

for turn based I turn to Civ 4 Beyond the Sword For Turn Based/rts hybrid I go to Space Empires V and the total war games For RTS I turn to Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare
