It would help to know what your basic system specs are: CPU, Video card, how much ram and what operating system. (you can type dxdiag in the Start-->Run box to get all of this info)

First thing I can think of to try is to update your videocard driver to the latest one.

If it's an ATI card (Radeon) go here: ATI drivers If it's an Nvidia card (GeForce) go here: Nvidia drivers If it's onboard video (Intel, etc.), good luck getting it to work.

Your ram, cpu and operating system seem up to the task of playing it. Just need more info on the video card. When you open up the DirectX Diagnostic tool (dxdiag in the Start-->Run box), click on the "Display" tab, and then post the info in the upper left box (called "Device")

{FD}Atton;3889173ok it didn't work when i try to turn on the game it says PLease insert the correct DVD-ROM,select ok and restart the app. any new ideas? im begging you!

OK, I hate to ask, but is this a game you own or is it a, umm... "backup" copy that you are trying to install/play? :lookaround: (this forum frowns upon such things and even though I could explain it, I can't/won't) If that's the case, that's why it won't start-up. You'll have to look for help elsewhere if it's not an original disc. Sorry.

btw - Try to use the "edit" button (bottom right) if you have more info to add to a post. Double, triple and even quadruple posting (like above) is also not well received here by the forum nazis. Me, I couldn't care less, just giving you a heads up... ;)

{FD}Atton;3891263Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 ...this it?

Yup. That's all I needed.

Minimum system requirements for Spiderman 3:

CPU: Pentium 4 / AMD 2.8GHz RAM: 1 GB (1.5GB for Vista) OS: WinXP or Vista HDD Space: 6GB Video: DirectX 9c compliant 256MB, T&L, and Shader Model 3.0 Sound Card: DirectX 9 Drive: DVD-ROM 2x

Unfortunately, that video card is not supported for this game. I'm not sure if your 5200 supports DX9, but I know for certain that it doesn't support Shader Model 3.0. Only Nvidia's 6 series cards (6200/6600/6800, etc.) and above support that. Besides, from what I've dug up on it, alot of people are pissed about the really high pc requirements. People with recent, fairly high-end systems even have trouble running the game. They're also saying that it's a horrible console-->pc "port", almost unplayable without a ps2/xbox type controller.

Sorry bud. It might be time to look into getting a new video card (or a new pc if you really want to catch up). Do you know if you have an AGP videocard slot ? (it's possible that 5200's a PCI card). If you do, you can just get a better card that may tide you over until you possibly get a new pc. If you aren't sure, you can download CPUZ, run it, click on the "Mainboard" tab, look on the bottom under Graphic Interface, Version line. (highlighted in red in pic below)
