Unfortunately, no. That video card just can't do it, latest driver or not.

There's not too many games that require SM3.0 support, Bioshock is all I can think of atm. It's surprising that they would do so for Spidey. They basically shunted 75% of the possible pc customer base by doing so. Not surprising though with a bad console port that they'd be too lazy to bother dumbing the game down a bit for older systems.

Bummer. On what did you spend it on? Something you can return perhaps?

If you have a console (Xbox/PS2, etc), could you exchange the pc version for the console version? At least then it's guaranteed to work. FYI - You can get something like a 7600GS or an x1650 for about $80-$90 online (in USA). Either will play all of today's games decently, and could keep your current pc going for another year or so (assuming you have an AGP slot to put it in)

(Nvidia) EVGA GeForce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card $95.83 shipped Core speed=400mhz Memory=700mhz

(ATI) SAPPHIRE Radeon X1650 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card $80.83 shipped Core speed=590mhz Memory=800mhz

btw - Don't confuse the 512mb and 256mb memory amounts as being an indication of which is a better card. With these lower end cards, that will make little (or likely no) difference at all in performance. Core speed and memory type (128 bit/256 bit, etc) are much more important. That said, I think the ATI card is indeed the better of these two cards, even though it's cheaper.
