The Future Of Gaming We all know Graphics, EAX, surround sound, fancy equipment and fast computers are the way of the future. Will everybody be able to afford one? yes and no. alot of gaming engines being created have lower system requirements allowing them to run of low end systems but on lower settings. Ive noticed a lack of development interest and quality of alot of newly released games, from Brothers in Arms only just getting its SDK released and its sequel so close to being completed, and EA getting righst to publish Valves future game releases, things are beginning to look pretty glum from my end. There are still several releases Im eagerly awaiting but, Call Of Duty 2 looks great. WW2 games Alot of the time I see comments about too amny ww2 games coming out. Well Ive got news for you, ww2 is the perfect setting for devlopers, equal forces, balanced armies, each side has unique abilities. Not only that but it covers a variety of terrain providing many areas to make and play as a game. Developers want to make a computer game that will be successful and the ww2 genre is very successful, where could they go wrong? Our Future as Gamers Ive been gaming for 5 years now, and in that small amount of time things have changed dramatically. For all I know we could have a room specially built for gaming and entertainment later on in life. a completely digital room, walls, ceiling, floor all a digital screen. Bringing the gaming world to life. The possiblities go on and on. Future of how games are made When I play a game I look for alot of things, Sound quality is one of the major ones. Sound creates atmosphere. There is nothing like slowly walking through the darkness only to hear the slump of an object crashing to the ground right beside you. that is atmosphere. Another thing is walking along a deserted road in France with your squad members, (ww2!) listening to artillery crackling in the distance only to see an MG open fire in the distance sending dirt spraying up. Im going to have to cut this short, sorry if Ive kinda left paragraphcs hanging there. Btw, what do you think of my writing ability as well? Cheers Flodgy

I think that we'll advance games to photo realism first, which will take a long, long while. After that has been done, then developers will be looking at alternate technologies. I don't think the future will be in a "digital" room, I think it will be in a new component, perherial [sp?] or genre. Think about the way the modem revolutionised how we play games [MMOGs etc.], something like that will come along, and once again shake up the creative minds, the question is what will it be? Well for a start, it will first have to have a use in business, otherwise it will not sell to the general public. Any ideas?

Ea getting the rights to publish valve titles....WTF? They are going to screw yet another good game devloper. Petition anyone? Valve usually listens to them. The only problem I have with the WWII games is that they are all in the same setting(France d-day germany) and they never let us play as the axis in a story mode type game.

Until developers from outside of the U.S. start creating WWII games, I doubt it will be given too much thought. Better business when Americans are the top customers that they like to be playing as an American superhero. Don't think games would have as a large of a community if Americans were seen as "enemies" within the game.
