As it was my birthday recently, I've gotten some money from family, and I was wondering if I should get Star Wars Galaxies. Two people I've known have gotten the game and absolutely love it, and I'm a big Star Wars and MMORPG fan myself. My only problem is that I don't have a steady source of income to pay for the monthly fee. I do, however, have enough money to last a couple months, so I was wondering if I should bother to get the game for the few months, or find something different?

Simple answer: no. Not if you're a Star Wars fan. The game does not follow the timeline at all, and as a Star Wars fan I personally find it to be a load of cowpies and an insult, even :uhm:. It's a waste of money, and a waste of your life. Most MMOs are.

Don't get that game, if you don't wanna pay a monthly fee, then buy Guild Wars, insanely awesome game.

I'm a starwars fan and I used to play galaxies. It's fun at the start, but then it gets REALLY boring and repetitive after the first month or so in my opinion.

Yeah, I don't think SWG is worth it. It starts to get really repetitive.

Hardly anyone plays it anymore I think and it gets pretty boring after a while. I wouldn't start playing it now.

Well go for it if you want. I recently picked up Lineage 2 for 10 quid, and although I doubt I'll subscribe past the first month, I'm still pretty happy with a tenner for a month of gaming. The moral is, if it's cheap go for it. If SWG was still £35, I'd say no, but since it's not you can afford to try it out.

I played Galaxies for about 14-15 months and loved every bit of it, because I know how bad things used to be, and I appreciated all the fixes and what not. Perhaps its because it was my first MMORPG, and I hate that midevil type theme from games like Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. I only stopped getting it because I could not keep up with the online fees. I also DID NOT grind at all. Personally I'd recommend it, but the critics and everyone else will tell you no.

I've already got guild wars (hence the inspired sig), and I'm happy with it, granted its not really MMO. As to Galaxies, I'm still a little 'iffy' on getting it, I've heard that you level up and such to become a jedi, so I thought, "Why pay $35 to get the game, then $15 a month to play it, when KOTOR allows the same thing except its not online." Thank you gamers of this community for inspiring my decision to save a few extra bucks.
