A few months ago, I watched Microsoft's E3 conference, and I sternly remember the vice-president of Microsoft talk about all the good things about 360 and Live and Vista, but I caught something that I thought was a lie. I found that part on You-tube and it occurs at 4:10 in the following video.

YouTube - Microsoft E3 2007 Press Conference part 6

And here's the quote:

...and the launch of our most game-friendly operating system ever, Windows Vista."

I remembered at the time how many complaints that have come over this forum about the problems with Vista and game compatibility.

So, I want to put a poll together to really see if his claim holds water. Is Vista really the most game-friendly operating system Windows ever put out? Furthermore, is it the most game-friendly operating system out there period?

Please don't be biased in this poll.

Oh yeah, I'm posting this poll in 2 other popular forums so I can get other opinions and I'll put them together in the end.

It will be, but all OS's are crap for the first months (maybe a year). Look at XP, it only became semi-useful after SP2.

I'm asking if it is now, or at the time of the press conference. Really, I wish that Microsoft would get it right the first time around. It seems like they frequently put things out buggy and then make fixes afterwards. I can almost confidently say they rush them. I think if Microsoft had waited to put the X-Box 360 out another year, it wouldn't have been so buggy at the start.

By the way, my little brother is about to go on his 4th 360. His three previous ones have failed on him, with all of them having RRODs at some point.

I like the 360, but it's just buggy.

See, we were smart. We changed from 98 after SP2 had come out for a while (completely bypassed ME and 2000).

To a certain extent, they do. Also, even though Microsoft test things, they probably use only a few thousand people at most. How many computers use Windows now? Millions? tens of millions? hundreds of millions? They will all have different problems that require time to pick up, time the test team don't really have.

But I think that Windows in general is too insecure, especially on the internet. With more and more games relying on multiplayer as a selling point now, it will make it really difficult to play games properly if you have an internet connection prone to attack.

Hypocrite! Windows 2000 Pro SP3+ is the best OSes Microsoft has ever released!!! (not including Vista, which has not yet been proven...).

Windows Me is either the worst, or second worst... Not sure if I would rate Windows pre-3.1 as worse... They did come with DOS... :uhm:
