Hi. My friends and I enjoy playing older online games like Quake 3 and Jedi Academy. We don't often get newer games mainly because of our system specs so games like Quake are ideal. Do any of you know of any other older games with decent online play that you could recommend? Thanks.
Half Life 1 multi player was awesome, I used to play against my dad when I was younger. I still hate the damn crossbow... Also Unreal Tournament 1 (the best UT in my opinion) has really good online playability.
Half-Life 1 didn't have Multiplayer. One of the spin-offs, Opposing Force, did however. Despite never having played the latter online, I know there's still quite a few servers on it.

Half Life 1 did have multiplayer, I have it installed on my PC and there is a multiplayer option. Maybe its only Lan?
They have updated it to the Source Engine, for online play. HLDM:Source. I think it was included in my HL2/Counter-Strike:Source pack.
Never did get into the original HLDM. I preferred Day of Defeat 3.0. Of course, that was before WWII games were so common.
Unfortunately, EA has foolishly decided to drop support for online play for older games, just as casual gamer systems have reached the point of supporting them. The should be re-releasing these classics, and making more money to support future games.
Other games that I have enjoyed were,...
Savage: The battle for Newerth (New Earth). It is a RTS game, in which you can play from a First Person Shooter perspective. You'll need a good Base Commander for it to be fun.
Also, Battlezone II. Combat Commander. This one is a more of a Tactical Vehicle Combat game, with RTS elements. You build your base, and spawn backup units, which you command in the field. The entire game can be played from inside your tank, although I wouldn't recommend going on foot...
Starsiege Tribes. This series is always a lot of fun. With big varied maps, you will be in for some intense battles. There is also an independent clone called "Legends the Game".
If you've played Jedi Academy, then surely you have played the Elite Force series? EF:2 is probably a good game to recommend. I recently logged onto EF:1, and while there were a couple of servers, there was not really anybody online.
There is also "the home of the underdogs" for some free oldtimers. Not sure if they have a lot of multiplayer games though.
get unreal tournament 2k4 its preatty decent online and not too intensive on your pc
bf1942 is a true classic. But you need at least 16 players for it to be fun. Swat4 is also excellent for coop. And you only need 3-4 players.

UK2k4 is indeed a fun game.
I also recommend maybe something like Soldier of Fortune 2. The graphics are very similar to the games you mentioned and the MP is still active.
