Thesolis;4917390Hi. My friends and I enjoy playing older online games like Quake 3 and Jedi Academy.

Woah, when did these become old games?

Had you asked me three years ago, I would have said "When their playerbase dropped below 20 games daily", but that would have made good ol' TimeShift an old game. Jedi Academy is on the hair fine line between not-as-new and old. Its community has decreased alot in size the last year, and the only thing keeping it alive is (probably) the modders.

I would have to disagree with that, lots of people still play if you can find the right clans and server. The JAWA clan normally has 16 to 24 people playing on it each day.

Anyway, I noticed nobody mentions Diablo 2 yet. Its a very fun game, I installed it yesterday and I can't put it down.

dschill;4919264get unreal tournament 2k4 its preatty decent online and not too intensive on your pc

I agree with this, Unreal Tournament 2004 was in my opinion, the best. It's highly moddable, as far as I know still pretty popular and is able to run on even 8 year old systems , and even when cranked up to max isn't all that draining.

I'll have to take a look at that server :lookaround:

Try UrbanTerror (Q3UT4)

It's a fast paced FPS and Quake 3 mod (most popular one these days, with GameSpy stats saying more than 3000 people playing it atm). But these days you don't need Quake 3 and a valid CD-key to play it as it comes with a standalone binary for online play.

The game is a mix of Q3A fast paced movement with weapons based on real or prototype guns. The weapon list is limited, but provides balanced gameplay and they are all immediately available to the player. No cash or veterancy system to access weapons. The game itself feature gameplay element to promote fast-paced games such as power sliding and walljumping. Lack of much wanted ironsight is to keep the game pace high (run-n-gun) and discourage camping. Game features various online game mode: Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Team Survivor, Bomb Mode, Capture and Hold, Follow The Leader. Beside it being a FPS game, the community also see a significant group of players that are solely into the trickjumping part of the game.

The scene is quite active (~1500+) people playing at most time with plenty of public servers in Europe, North America, South America, East-Asia and Oceania. Also there are plenty of competition active over the year in Europe and North America and occasionally some cups and tourney in the other areas mentioned. But by far the largest active and competitive scene can be found in Europe. Being a league admin myself i can clearly see the growth of the competition scene where we had 12 teams competing in the league in the first season (a year ago), we're now seeing over 70+ teams in our 6th season. Competition wise it's mostly Capture the Flag or Team Survivor mode based games.

The game has been around for 9 years and since the 4.0 release the game is seeing a large revival with lots of oldskoolers coming back and newbies joining.

Here are some videos showing the gameplay and -pace: Bellum and Breaking The Line

Hope you might enjoy it.

Game is 5 years old. You gotta have some monstrous 8 years old machine (for that time) to claim you can run UT2004 at max with ease. Mind you that the UT99 was released 10 years ago. And 8 years ago most playing UT99 didn't had the monstrous machine that you described that could run UT2004 'to max isn't all that draining'.
