No, really. That’s what Haden Blackman, who is also known as da man at LucasArts, told MCV, apparently implying that they had been making terrible games when he also said, “Star Wars fans have been forgiving over the years.” Hehe.

“But we don’t take that for granted. We are so paranoid about tarnishing Star Wars. We want to make every game as good as possible, but it doesn’t always work out that way.

“The Force Unleashed II is a better game. Whether it reviews or sells as well, I have no idea.”

I love that last sentence. Review scores and sales don’t determine a product’s quality, and it’s great to see a name developer acknowledging that. Carry that torch, Haden.

That really got me smiling. Haden Blackman is a credit to LucasArts. They actually seem like they want to create a good game because they want to do the title justice, not because they want to rack up a fortune on the reviews and sales. I thought the Force Unleashed had quality. It wasn't original. But it was special, as it was the first proper and unique Star Wars game in years. To see someone from LucasArts actually say that reviews and sales don't determine the quality of the game is a good thing.

(And as a side note, yes, LucasArts has been making terrible decisions with the game industry in the past. Dropping support and not expanding on existing series, such as the Battlefront or Jedi Knight series, are among those.)

Does this mean: 1. They will start on the SWBF3 project again with the awesome space to ground and ground to space and all the other features??

2. Will Force Unleashed 2 actually be released and work well on the PC this time and be well optimized??

3. Will they make more to the JK series based on the EU with either (a)Old mechanics (b) Force Unleashed mechanics (cause they are awesome and adding them to the awesomeness of JK series will equal the ultimate win) (c) Completely new mechanics that pwn all the old mechanics ever used in SW games???

4. Will they actually reboot KOTOR and tell us what happened to Revan and the Exile?

That might eventually be told in the MMO, The Old Republic. Which sucks because its an MMO.

LA has made real bad choices in the past. Hell, they have this famed 1.3 update for swbf, but that still has not come through yet. Not to mention dropping support for all of their games and NEVER releasing any new updates after the first few months they are on shelves. I have lost faith in LA to update their games.

One man a company does not make.

Erm, unless it's a sole trader. Then one man a company is. But LucasArts isn't a sole trader, I don't think.

Using LucasArts as an example of a company that "understands" something beyond profit is a little... off.

Maybe he still thinks it's 1998?
