I just played it, and there's two things that I don't exactly appreciate about it; the draw distance is horrific and looks like something out of a budget game, and the game seems to suffer from the "solid-through" syndrome. A shot to each leg will kill an enemy instantly. Not wound him or incapacitate him, just kill him on the spot. Although, even with all the settings on max it looked more like the Xbox 360 version than PC version, except for the shadows. Maybe it's because I didn't have anti-aliasing on, I don't know.

I'm definitely sold on this thing. Love the time period, the music (the delta blues radio is my favourite), the fashion. I had a little orgasm when I put on a yellowish coat and hat. Great performance on maximum details as long as the PhysX are off, though I agree that the draw distance could be better. It feels that the demo is a bit unpolished, but that's exactly what I attribute it to, being a demo.

Played the demo yesterday on PS3, I'll say that it looks promising, still unsure if I'll get it though. I played the first one and loved it so I may end up getting it because of that reason alone, but we'll see.

I did like how driving handled, much better than how cars handled in GTA4, IMO. However, the inability to blind fire was disappointing. I'm not sure how I feel about the AI for the NPCs, it's not great but it's not terrible. I will give them props for allowing you to do unnecessary things like opening windows, turing on/off lights, turning on faucets, etc. it makes the open world more life-like.

Just finished a second playthrough of it today. I like it.

Serio;5375613the draw distance is horrific and looks like something out of a budget game,

I disagree. Draw distance was fine, and didn't look "budgety" to me.

and the game seems to suffer from the "solid-through" syndrome. A shot to each leg will kill an enemy instantly. Not wound him or incapacitate him, just kill him on the spot.

Do you mean being killed by one shot to the leg, or shooting them in the leg to kill them? I only ask because I shot someone three times in the leg, and he didn't die.

Although, even with all the settings on max it looked more like the Xbox 360 version than PC version, except for the shadows. Maybe it's because I didn't have anti-aliasing on, I don't know.

It probably was because of the lack of anti-aliasing. I had everything up to max, and even have AA at a forced 8x setting, whilst AF is forced to 24x. It looked as good as (if not a little better imo) than the PC screenshot from earlier in the thread.

Without AA on at all.

This is what I mean:

Compare that to the screenshot S.T.A.L.K.E.R. posted. Because I play in 1680x1050, I'm rarely bothered by aliasing. But the mirror just looks sloppy in comparison to the rest of the environment. The game is otherwise beautiful, but the distant buildings and the mirror just look sloppy in comparison to the rest. The buildings look washed out to me, and the edges look similar to the edges in the mirror. But I'm sure it's going to be an amazing game, I'm just pointing out some flaws in the demo. Or maybe I'm just nitpicking.

EDIT: And I've played it through about eleven times now.

I am quite pleased with the graphics. The game runs quite well on my laptop with everything maxed except AA.

The guns sound solid, and the hit animations are fun to watch. I've been done in a few times by a stumbling enemy who I thought died, but later picked himself back up.

One thing that caught me by surprise are the Playboy magazines. I'm glad my mom wasn't nearby when I stumbled upon the first one.

I was having a shootout with a police officer right outside the bar. I shot him, he stumbled and I thought he had died. Another shot alerted me to his still functioning heart, I turned around and shot him. Not before he managed to fire another shot, though. It looked pretty epic, as we both stumbled forward and collapsed.
