Back in the day when the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox were all brand new I remember why it is I wanted that PS2 more than anything in the world....Metal Gear Solid 2.

I loved and cherished that game so much that I bought it b4 i got a memory card and willingly left the console on for 4 days straight taking time to pause for school days and letting it sit there running until I would come home.

Then MGS3 came out. And I loved that too. I had some problems with it yes (like the fact that there's no HUD map this time) and I may have never actually bought it or played throught it for reasons but it always was in the back of my mind to get it.

Then I gave in a purchased an Xbox about a year and a half back. Luckily MGS2: Substance was out for the Xbox and I made a swift purchase. How dismayed was I to see that the MGS3: Substance would NOT be released on the Xbox? Very.

I guess what I'm trying to get at here is why cant the MGS series be ported to the Xbox and 360 like MGS: S was? I understand the concept that every console company makes sure it has a core number of great games to itself to make ppl buy their consoles (Xbox=Halo, PS=FF and MGS, and Nin=Zelda) but why cant we all be friends and have all games on every system? Then companies could center more on bringing the buyer the top of the line actual hardware rather then the ability to play special games. I guess it's the price we pay for being a globilzed capitalist economy.

Make sure to keep a console from every of the big three if you want all the games.

A lot of times people can get annoyed when too many games are ported to too many consoles. Certain games should be kept at certain places. Metal Gear Solid games have been remade, redone, and ported too often now. There probably were plans to port MGS:3, but the moving over is usually done a good bit after the game has come out so that the original console can make certain that they sell a lot of the game for themselves before letting another console get in on the action. However, now with the new consoles coming out, any plans to move MGS:3 to the xbox or GC are going to be scrapped simply because the software companies have better things to do with their time, coming out with newer games for the new hardware rather then updating old software for old consoles.

Hell, I agree with you. Had I one wish (...ok, two) it would be for a universal console, made by Microsonyntendo. Unfortunately, we don't live inside my head, so the odds of that happening are slim to none. Also, Sony don't explicitly own Final Fanatsy and Metal gear, they were both once and recently on Nintendo consoles / in Nintendo games.

Hm. I didnt know that but it would make sense given the fact that Nintendo was the first real game console (correct? besides Atari)

but the moving over is usually done a good bit after the game has come out so that the original console can make certain that they sell a lot of the game for themselves before letting another console get in on the action

I'm pretty sure that MGS2: S came out for both the PS2 and the Xbox at the same time actually.

Either way it's sad that we cant all be friends in this buisness and have every game for every console and PC. I guess if one wants to play MGS3, Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Halo 2 they better have a crap load of money to spend on everything needed, or have good connections with friends who'll let you hang at their house and play their systems for long periods of time.

Companies have to have their flagship titles. If they dont have that one must have game their console probably wont sell/aswell. You never know, in the future they may all join forces. But I doubt it, if one company fails and the other one picks them up im sure a new competitor will arise. There is talk of Apple doing a console... rumor at this stage but you never know.
