Mindanao Group, a small group of know-hows has been modding for the past few weeks.

Firstly, I'd like to bring your attention to why it is so difficult to find out how to mod. We at mindanao saw flaws in Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising's modification system and put it openly on the table of other known modders of the game. Since then we have a mutual pact to not reveal techniques or release further mods until this problem can be solved.

We're doing this for the good of the community, limiting CHEATERS. Mindanao are pursuing a means of securing the game from cheaters in this manner and releases will follow upon success.

Secondly, I'm proud to announce Mindanao has a significant, upcoming release, unschedualed - due to reasons above. Work is being done - a lot of work.

A few changes already or to be completed:

Alteration of sides less popular in the game - For example, there are few russian players, so the Russian Spetz Natz has been transormed into a French Foriegn Legionaire. Quite a few other similar changes, based on player count.

Graphical Nicities - Camo net tweaks, wooden box tweaks, just little things that make you appreciate the game more.

De-Americanisation > Natofication - Alot of American vehicles in the game, yeah well we changed them to other NATO countries colors. One example, The Blackhawk now features a German camouflage scheme. Also there are accuracy tweaks, better suiting colors etc.

Rebel Outfitting - Since our mod will one day have a theme, involving Mindanao and the New Peoples Army (a communist activist movement), we have taken it upon ourselves to outfit the rebels, with a simlar camoflage, so they look a bit more organised but not like a professional army. No longer will you encounter enemys with different camouflage schemes, but a single unified camouflaged used widely by the Philipino New Peoples Army. They will still look like rebels, just more identifiable.

Again, release date unknown. Work is fast so expect more to be added before the release. Listed above are only few of the total alterations made, so if the above doesnt impress, wait for the final list.

Thirdly, JOPSFiles.com is now Hosting Mindanao Group's website.


It is still in development phase, so expect broken links, however there is content in the Images album for you to take a look at, be aware that work is fast, there are now more than double the amount of alterations than depicted in just those images.

Man, I understand how hard it is to mod for this game. The limitations are appauling. The only thing you have free reign over is the coding. You can't even edit the .dds or .3di files at the moment so you have to compensate and use what you're given. Nova needs to release the modding tools soon or the modding community for this game may die an early death.

Anyway, now for something completely relevent.

Checked out your mod, I liked it. A lot of thought put into it. I liked the way you're actually making it JOINT Operations. Just wandering why you put in the French...although it is the Foreign Legion which is good.

Anyway, if you need any help with anything, just AAsk

yes you can edit the dds files its very easy... extract the .dds file to any folder you would like. Then go to www.dfbarracks.com download the devilsclaw tool kit (or whatver its called) put the BFC1 extractor in the JO directory.. click on the extractor and you can then extract the file properly and you can now open it.

ok i dunno if this is true but there my be a moding pack avilabel soon they have fixed the prob with the moding stuf for the new update if u wanna try the new update get the beta at novaworld i dunno if u can mod things in the beta but u might b abel to :) ps am a knew member that y i neva reply soona
