And Ed Boon has even said this time, it's going to be so gory/violent he's thinking it might push the bounderies into the AO category! Yay! This is the MK i think all MK fans have been waiting for! Mortal Kombat 9 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Mortal Kombat 9 Announced - Xbox

I've always found Mortal Kombat to be entertaining.

Yeah, weren't they the ones to do "finishing" moves like decapitation and the like?

Never played except on arcade machines way the fuck back when, even then it was too much of a Street Fighter ripoff and was hard to take it seriously. But just as a good times violent game for the sake of violence, it was a good game. The more gore the better, that's what that game is about. Uniquely extra violent.

Except for the fact that it's way better >.> How can it be hard to take seriously when you have guys ripping the hearts out of their victims? And i liked the fact that you could actually play it without getting your ass handed to you on the easiest setting by the NPC (which is total BS). Lets just say i've had fond memories with street fighter on the sega, but i've had way more FUN with Mortal Kombat. You can't quite get the same satisfaction from street fighter, as you can from Mortal Kombat, with ripping your opponents head off, spine and all.

I love MK, and I can't wait for this, but lets be honest. I have serious doubts that the game will in anyway get close to an AO rating, considering that in order to get to that level usually requires some sort of sexual content. And no, not sexual themes, or sexual references, there actually needs to be some sex, some real scenes of nude sex or it won't be AO.

It doesn't matter how Gory it gets, you can chainsaw people in half in Gears of War, stomp their heads off, beat them half to death, and blow them to smits so you can see pieces of their spinal cord and other major organs. No AO rating. In Mass Effect there is a partially nude sex scene, no AO rating.

I mean, if the do push the violence that far (and I still doubt they will) then they'd be hurting themselves more than anything else since the selling of AO rated games is generally frowned upon in the market on the major consoles. There aren't many games in existence with the AO rating, and most of tham (with the exclusion of 2 or 3) have an emphasis on sexual themes.

Manhunt 2 for the Wii recieved an AO rating so they had to edit it so you could tell what was going on during the really brutal kills but you wouldn't see too much. Manhunt 1 was also slated to be an AO game, it was practicaly on the edge of the knife because of how fucked up it was.

You know you're milking a franchise when you have 9 games out. :/

Did they leave their imaginations behind?
