I'd like to hear what everyone thinks. Personally, i'll go with Europa Universalis III.
The options include expansion packs.

Hmm..
2 other options I'm going to list under other would have to be Sins of a Solar Empire and Galactic Civilisations II, both 4X titles.
But out of those on the poll I'd have to go with the Civ Series. Haven't played #4 but I love the others.
most likely BFME 2
I love europa universalis but civilisation isn't bad eather... A little more features for europa and I have the winner.
I really want to play EU. From what I've seen it looks like a lot of fun.
My pick would either go to Civilization IV, or Galactic Civilizations. The Road to War mod for Civ also has a pretty good tactical side to it, and the Rhye's of Civilization mod is a lot of fun trying to relive history.
Galactic Civilizations is great because the AI doesn't "cheat", and with the Twilight of the Arnor expansion, they upped the maximum size allowed for maps. I don't know about everyone else, but the larger the map, the better.

Legolas*;4573185most likely BFME 2
That's an RTS title, not a Grand Strategy game.
Grand Strategy pretty much means that there are ways to win other than military dominance. ie. Diplomacy, cultural negotiation, etc.
Space Empires V or IV depending on personal preference

I bought Civ 4 in the hopes it would be the same, but sadly it's not realistic enough for me  [quote=Flodgy;4573886]That's an RTS title, not a Grand Strategy game.

That's the "Grand" definition. It can also mean games where youview a big map. BFME 2 includes War of the Ring.
Of all those, I've only played Civ 4, HoI 2, and RoN. Of those, I consider the first two to be more encompassing of "Grand Strategy". Hell, I think I've only beaten Civ 4, I've yet to beat HoI 2 in a satisfactory manner.

That's just a meta-map. Grand strategy involves things that transcend merely capturing provinces so that you can put it towards military purposes. In a Grand Strategy game, there should be more ways to win the game other than blasting the hell out of the opponent.
Sins of a solar empire, and amazing, and large scale game.
