Hello. So, I've been out of the new game scene for the last 4 years or so. I've devoted that gaming time to a single MUD. Now that I have decided to quit that MUD, I'm looking for some suggestions on single player RPGs or MMORPGs as long as the monthly fee is real low (or free like Guild Wars, which I would love some insight on). Even an older shooter. Those can be pretty fun.

To get a feel for my tastes, here are some games that I enjoy thoroughly:

Baldur's Gate series to a lesser extent, Icewind Dale series Quest for Glory series Legacy of the Ancients (C64) Phantasy Star II and IV Civilization III Alpha Centauri Protostar: War on the Frontier Final Fantasy VII Call of Duty Half Life

A very important point to consider is that I will be playing primarily on an Apple powerbook G4, with 512 mb of RAM, 64 mb VRAM, 1.67 ghz clock speed. My old PC is just that . . . old. Won't run anything remotely new. So when suggesting games, please keep in mind that they have to be available for Apple computers. :)

So I'm thinking along the lines of games 2 or more years old. I've looked into KOTOR, and possibly re-purchasing Civ 3 for Mac. That's as far as I've gotten in terms of possibilities.

So now, tell me what to play!! :)

There is a good online RPG you could look at, Knight Online it's pretty cool and does not need a powerful computer to run it.

-EDIT- If you're under 18 use a fake date of birth... otherwise you can't register and if you try again you have to wait 24 hours or something.

I would definitely get KOTOR if I were you. It's certainly the best rpg I've played in recent years. The only mmorpg I 've played is Star Wars Galaxies but they they've done a complete overhaul since I left so I don't know what it's like now.

I've tried free trial after that, it sucks. RTS: Age of Empires 2 Really cheap now, by far one of the most fun RTS i've played. FPS: Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Free, fun first person shooter. Also, about Call of Duty, do you have United Offensive? The expansion pack?

MMO: Diablo II, Free, and fun, never played it, but from what I hear it is very good and low requirments.

Thanks for the info so far. I think I'll go ahead and try out KOTOR on my mac, and maybe start Knights Online on my old, dragging PC.

As for AOE2, I've had that for a few years. Used to play it a lot more, but it's been out of my favor for a while.

Keep the suggestions coming, I'm quite appreciative of them.

erhmmm...you have to use special mac games for your powerbook

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/4.RSLID?aa=BF09F093&nclm=Software

they are more expensive than the pc games, but thats because they were requried a whole new team of devs too convert them

Here's an incidental question: are the games for sale on Apple's website the only games currently available for the OSX platform?
