Has anyone heard the rumour that A1 Grand Prix will be releasing an online racing game that will allow you to race in real-time against the actual Grand Prix racers, then compare your time against other online racers in a worldwide league? I think it’s a good idea, what do you think? Hope its true.

I guess he means the actual people who race? Like NASCAR game I play where a few real racers log on and play such as Dale Earnhardt Jr and Denny Hamlin etc..

Searched a bit and found nothing.

I think it means you can race the real physical racers who are driving the real cars during a real A1 Grand Prix race.

My only guess on how this could work is that each car has some sort of GPS transmitter attached to them, and the data from it is send down the line to the virtual online gamers. Maybe the winner at the end of the season will be invited to race in the real car.... if you're that good compared to the rest of the world at the end of the season, why can't you be that good in a real car... dream, dream

GPS contains data about positioning... the data packet is very small so can be sent through the internet real quick. So if the position on a race track of a real racing car in a real race is known and sent through the internet to your console, you can race against them on your console. Your end time is then held on a database so you can look it up to see how you compared to other racers who are racing via their console. Thats how I vision it... do you reckon it would work.... do you think its a good idea?

I'm getting myself excited... Imagine if the game had the graphics and dynamics of the new F1 game demoed for the PS3, then imagine that you can actually race Michael Schumacher in realtime... What do you reckon?
