So the new chat interface is nice but it feels a tad disconnected to the main interface now which I could barely tell had changed.

The new chat interface has lots of transitions and effects that make it seem a little off currently. Either the main interface needs those elements or the chat interface needs to be toned down in that regard.

Seems to be more cosmetic than functional really?

A small thing that I actually appreciate is you can take a screenshot of your Steam interface now without having to censor your username, since that was displayed in the top right corner before.

I think the main interface will receive the same elements from the chat interface. In time. I mean, this is Valve, after all.

It's getting better but there's still room for improvement. Hopefully it doesn't take them another 6 years to update their main client UI.

I don't use Steam very often, but I was recently forced to buy Sins of a Solar Empire on there so that I could play Star Trek Armada 3.

To be honest, it doesn't look to have changed much since it was first farted onto our PCs as a Trojan horse with Half-Life 2.

There's more to this story and we know it.
