Can anyone tell me how it has been for them so far? I'm going to buy it sometime soon and I want to know what kind of changes are made such as combat, graphical improvements (I understand it runs on the same engine), and whatnot. Every time I search online I just find sites with a bunch of spoilers, or people saying its just an expansion. I fail to see how its an expansion when it contains 80+ hours of game play, a new map, new characters, new voices, new guns, and a new plot. Haters gonna hate. Which is why I don't want their opinions.

I'm basically looking for how enjoyable all of these new features are, or how in depth they go.

So you want all the positive aspects and none of the negative? If you're going to buy the game anyway then why not be pleasantly surprised about the good stuff? You will enjoy it more if you find out about some cool new feature yourself instead of just remembering "oh yeah, I read about that on the forums".

I don't think there are many changes. Its basically just Fallout 3 in a different location as far as i know. Same combat, same graphics, ect... just with a whole new storyline, new guns and items, new characters, ect...

Either way, its going to be my next game purchase for sure.

I'm welcoming negative aspects, I just left that out because I'm sure all I'd hear would be "its just an expansion". Plus I've already heard it has a lot of bugs and stuff.

I haven't played it yet, and I don't plan on any time soon, but from what I heard it's still an enjoyable experience, despite the numerous bugs and problems. The average score on Metacritic is 87 for reviewers, and 8.6 for users. Depending on how you look at it, that either makes the game just above, or just below average. Seeing as you want to dodge the spoilers, I'll see if I can quote some spoilerfree reviewers;

One of the users rated it 10/10 and wrote,

[...] With slight graphical and technical improvements; New Vegas as much to offer for new and returning players. [...] With a vast wasteland at your feet and countless hours to explore. Fallout New Vegas is well-worth its value.

Another rated it 9/10 and wrote,

The combat isn't spray and prey anymore, the spread of rifles is more logical, the ammo is great and 3 hours in and no enclave or super mutants which in Fallout 3 seemed to be the only opponents other than the occasional rad roach or feral. The binoculars don't zoom as far as I had hoped but they do help some. Other than that it's a great game and worth the money, for the PC that is, [...]

It seems the primary negative points are, naturally, the bugs and re-used assets from Fallout 3. But both the new gameplay tweaks and technical, as well as graphical, improvements are being praised. I'd say it sounds like a good game. Not on par with Fallout 3 on release, but just a level below it. I don't think I need to state how little you can actually depend on the honesty of scores. People have different perceptions of them.

Ok then. From what I heard they included a lot of ideas that were modded into FO3 (more weapons variety, somewhat higher difficulty) and improved the quests/reduced procedurally generated locations.

The reviews say it's a good game, despite the weaknesses.

Yeah I don't normally go by reviews, especially metacritic, 100 point scales don't really make much sense to me, 84 and 85/100 are the same thing. But that doesn't matter. The bugs in Fallout 3 were/are horrible too. I just started replaying Fallout 3 on PC, I've already crashed seven times, very annoying.

I was hoping they would take a lot of the mod ideas, since a lot of them were pretty nice.

Thanks both of you.
