It may just be the game itself.
If its anything like NFS Undercover for the PC i wouldn't be surprised at all.
how come whats wrong with undercover ?? im assuming theirs bugs with the game then ?? I Can run the game g8 on full gfx etc... but iall turn them down any ways c if it helps ya nvr kno iall post bak if it don work.
just played it on 800 by 600 ansted of 1024 by 768 and it still cut 2 me desktop :( the chances of this happening 2 any other game is like 5 blue moons so rare as hell. i think its just carbon being a pain, i have no trouble or as of yet with most wanted so must b the game.
Unless you got a bad copy of Carbon, I seriously doubt it's the game. Carbon played fine for me even on fairly outdated system spec. You've yet to answer whether you have all necesary updates, including MB chipset, GPU, sound, DirectX, etc, whether you run any background progs like an AV, firewall, game browser, etc, and whether you keep HDDs defragged and scanned.
In fact I don't even recall you saying what your system spec is or what in game settings you use. This kind of thing should be a rare occurrence, yet you say it happens with a few other games.
alright alright alright take it easy lol
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @1.60GHZ 1.60GHZ which comes to about 2.87GHZ , 2GB of ram. Direct X10 (SDK) G Force 9400GT @ 1GB gfx. XP SP2. Also have vista installed on a sep partition so could try installing on their. Im running Mcafee fire wall in the back ground. (wich im not disabling)
I googled this and im not the only 1 2 have this problem. looks like 100's of other people have if not 100 then prob 1000's. So i guess ur lucky omen if it don happen 2 u. No offence. Theirs a fair few forums round the net with this problem being posted. Just thaught u guys should kno. The main games it happens with is mainly bc cos of some mod's like i got some borg ships installed atm wich every time i chose to play them they close me game down in the same way as carbon. EA apparently kno bout the problem and have done jack 2 correct it cos apparently they don kno whats wrong ... apparently.
Take it easy?, I'm just trying to convey that the best way to get help is to be comprehensive vs vague with your information, instead of just ranting on.
I have done a bit of Googling on this and there are indeed many reports of launch and/or gameplay crashes. I noticed a few things just in a few minutes of searching the first few links you may not have tried.
1) If you at one time had the Carbon demo installed, make SURE it is thoroughly removed from your system, including anything in the registry.
2) If you have Carbon patch 1.3 installed, try uninstalling it. Even Nvidia has a PDF on this.
3) Try running the game's shortcut in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode.
The above is really nothing out of the ordinary. In fact all three I would consider standard fare for things to try when ANY game is CTDing a lot. There are other things you could try too of course, like setting CPU affinity to one vs two cores, or even being less stubborn about insisting on having your McAfee firewall running. At the very least you could try disabling your net connection while playing to see if in fact it is anything remote connection associated.
Bottom line, had you been more versed in the many things one experienced at dealing with these things normally tries, you probably would have made mention that you did and it didn't work. It's not easy to take, but par for the course with the way PC games are being made anymore combined with the myriad of hardware types and drivers for them.
Well actually, this happens with my Undercover too. Until now, I can't make it to run still. All games are running fine except that. I already patched it and all and still the same :(
