GameAlmighty just posted up a new article talking about the Nintendo Wii over the past year. The article is a fairly positive outlook on the Wii, however I don't like how a lot of people think it's a game for "grandpas". I happen to think the Wii has a great selection of games. Here's the source:

They think it's a console for grandpa's because they had a commercial with grandpa's in it.

It is. The question is, did they miss the point, or do they hate it because of the point?

That point being "Fun for all ages". Children do like to rebel from time to time, and distinguish themselves from the older generations. Instead, looking towards things that are "cool" for their own generation.

Man of these children are not entirely sure what they do not like about the Wii. Is it fear of peer pressure?

The perception that something designed for all age groups, or other groups, would not provide the same gameplay they desire?

The biggest thing about the Wii, is that many people are still getting their first chances to experience it.

You play one game console, you've played them all. The Wii is a very different experience.

I agree with that, they're all they same in the end but the Wii takes it to a different level.

WOW!

I just worked the early shift at Wal-Mart today, and I am in awe. We had a line of people waiting for the opportunity to get a Wii!

They were not waiting in line to get a Wii, they were waiting to find out if we were getting any in today! And we DON'T get these things in on Fridays. Today was Friday EST. Not that it couldn't happen, but we have not gotten a shipment on a friday, for as long as I can remember.

Is it just me, or are these things MORE popular this year, than last year!?

I have had to defend Nintendo, several times. A lot of people are upset, and blaming Nintendo for not making enough consoles. I'm thinking, are you crazy!? Do What!? Not making enough!? You don't deserve a Wii lady!

Regardless, I cannot blame Nintendo for not making more consoles. They are outselling the 360, 3:1. The fact that they are in shortage is a surprise. That, and that this is occurring a year after its release, further humiliates the other companies. I applaud Nintendo. Kudos. After being the King, and then being made the underdog. Being thought extinct. Sometimes you just have to come back in style.

Can you see the smug look on Nintendo's face? Your making how much on the x-Box? Your not making any money? How many Halo's did you sell??? :D
