Hi all, Just wanted to say, Cheers, to all those of you that helped reccomend NWN2 to me on the other thread. Got the game Saturday, and it is excellent. Just wondering though, is NWN1 worth getting ? I assume its the same setup as NWN2 ? Thank you :cya:

shadows of undertide and hordes of underdark. There were few more like king maker but those were a bit short for my liking.

I enjoyed NWN1, never played an expantion for it though. So if you are done with NWN2 you probably wouldn't make a bad choice with NWN1. It's ofcourse and older game so it's graphics may seem date (but who really cares? I played Baldurs Gate 1 last year. the resolution made me  but the gameplay made me drool ;) ).

NWN1 was about as good (perhaps slightly better even) then NWN2. BG series topped both though. So if you really have time to kill and don't mind late 90's graphics (BG is from 1998 or so and BG2 from 2000, but I'm guessing/estimating so my memory might be a little bit off?). Got an XP compatible BG1+expantion+BG2+expantion all in one set. Unlike the NWN series the BG series use AD&D second addition rather then D&D third edition rules so it handles armour stats etc. different (AC starts at 10 and goes down when it improves rather then up).

Well, the first NWN from Bioware has been around for many years now.

Yes, the graphical quality isn't as good as NWN2, but it was the first game to use Aurora.

There are more areas to explore in the city of Neverwinter itself, and in general the game seems larger imo.

However, just to show the enormous success of it..... Bioware is still issuing updates to the game!

Some of the more recent updates allow for player-made modules to have PCs riding a mount!

In all seriousness, NWN was a great game. It got better with each expansion too.

If you can get your hands on the Deluxe Edition, you'll get the core game, both SoU and HoTU expansions, and two other additions that are available in Bioware's Premium Content (pay for download and play) section for free.

In some ways the gameplay is better than NWN2, but there are drawbacks aswell.

In all honesty, if gameplay is more important to you than graphics (which I certainly hope) then make your best effort to get NWN1 + Expansions. Well, what are you waiting for? Go on..... GO ON, GET THE DAMN GAME! GET OFF YOUR ASS NOW!! SCHNELL!!!

Sounds very positive, thank you . I belive I will get it in the near future(deluxe one you mentioned i hope). I am not too botherd about the graphics, as great games can still live on without them, like Deus Ex or even Morrowind as example. One other thing i wanted to ask, was that, I have been playing NWN2, and although I am enjoying it ALLOT, I have encounterd so many game breaking bugs that dont seem to have been fixed(that i had to scour the internet for console codes to break & continue). Is NWN1 as buggy, and any suggestions on fixing NWN2 ? (the problem i had, which seems important, is the companions dissapearing mainly).

I would advice patching the game.

HAve you patched the game to the latest patch? I haven't encountered any plot breaking bugs. The most major bug I found had to do with some city guard related missions (a person saying they would have mopre missions for me (after I did a mission/gained a rank) but the person never changed his lines. I looked into the game files and saw aditional dialogs did excist but for reaon were not initiated. I check my variables (mission X completed or not? and it was all okay) so that made me believe they either scraped some missions or the side quest mission was indeed broken. But I had no bugs in the main plot or most side quests.

Which bugs mission (plot or sidequest) did you encounter? The danger of console editting variables is that it could cause more troubles down the road since not all vaiables were set/updated or a plot item hasn't come into your passion, causing other plots to go broken aswell since the game (somewhat rightfully) doesn't thik you met (all!) the requirements to start of the next page in the story/plot/quest.

I was playing the boxed version that came, and auto updated, but then after one update, the auto updater stopped working. So I assumed I had the latest version and couldnt get any more. Funny enough though, I took about 1 hour yestarday, looking for, and working out how to manualy update my game, as I was stuck on the Mountain with the Irionfist belt, as the game wouldnt let me leave. I had upto then, version 1.0.1115 or whatever it was. And had been managing upto then to search the net and find what console commands i needed to progress(obviously really old forum posts form all over). But there was no answer to be found on the ironfist belt. So I was left as a last resort, to try and patch it somehow, even though it seemed so confusing. I searched/researhced for the files that i needed(6 pcx ones for the Mob expansion infact), then and how to correctly install them. As soon as i managed to update to the latest patch available, and reloaded my game, the game worked right away. At least when I want to replay, I wont have these issues. FYI - the bugs i had, just out of interest. 1-shard script wouldnt play, when collecting the shard at the begining. 2-the archives library, the 4 books wouldnt appear. 3-access to Jerros place, couldnt light the 3 braziers. 4-Jerro takes you to Inn in castle keep, game crashes ion load screen. 5-Couldnt leave the mountains with ironfist belt.
