Has anyone else noticed the lack of new PC game titles as of late? Even with Star wars Battlefront 2 new maps have been released but only for Xbox live people, obviously when dealing with microsoft favortism is going to be played around... I just hope that more titles will make it to PC and not be phased out alltogether whilst consoles are great fun they cant quite replace the online play you get on your PC :lookaround:

I too have noticed this I dont have xbox live so i cant play online on those games. however with a PC it's as simple as hitting a few buttons. It saddens me to think that PC's are being replaced.

Some years are better than others for the PC. I just look at the bright side and figure that some great ones are still in development. Pay attention to the big game developers when they say they're in the early stages of developing new material. :deal:

I agree though, PC games have slowed a bit as of late. We haven't heard of any huge titles for a little while now.

it may well be because game developers will want to work on games to suit dual cpu's and 64 bit. the problem with that is a lot of people could be left behind unless they also develop lower spec versions of games so more pc users could play them. consoles are getting so important now that games will possibly be developed for them first

Thinking about it.

Great. So that means all we have to look forward to are a bunch of crappy console ports.

yep cod2 for instance :( played it on a friends comp as well as the demo on my own comp, it was ok, but as i play the original and uo sometimes i didnt like some aspects of the gameplay such as the grenades and the way to get health back by simply lying down. not as good as the originals as Cod2 was created mainly for consoles i understand. it might be me, but i just found it a bit soulless for want of a better description even with the better graphics compared to the originals, although they were good themselves

The main element that has me attracted to COD 2 is the improved graphics. However, the gameplay is what is important in the long run. The graphics are what get me interested, the gameplay is what will keep me hooked.

I prefer most games on the PC rather than on a gaming console. However if someone was into gaming if they don't have the cash they're more likely to go for a console than buying a PC.

Yes, I've noticed that of recent too.

I'm already getting bored of COD2, I've been looking for new alternatives but it looks like there are none. :(

I think it's down to new technologies coming into play that the developers have to adapt to, like as M!tch said, 64 bit processing. That, and the fact that the next gen consoles are coming soon (1 is already here) and the big boys of the industry are making release titles right now.
