Hello guys. It's Fran here, 3D Programmer on BW2.

I read this post and I'm trying to gather more info abour your problems and, possibly, give out some possible solutions:

NVIDIA (unknown drivers): Creature Hair render issure: stretching polygons.

http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/9601/bug22wf.jpg

This sounds like a drivers issue. Try installing 78.01. Does it go away if you press ctrl-alt-del and then go back to the game?

I'd need the exact specs of the graphics card, send this info to Sam if possible.

Quote: ------------------------- BUG REPORT () --------------------------- Name of Bug: Low only graphics bug Possible cause: not a clue. maybe its not detecting what the card can do Type of bug: graphical Your System specs: Nvidia Geforce FX5600 Driver: 81.84 Shaders: 2.0

This is not a bug. 5600 is treated as minspec, cause it lacks the horse power to run cutting edge graphics at smooth fillrate.

In general, you should stick to the video config detected by the game, cause it's pretty much guranteed by our QA to run at more than 20 fps.

Quote: *What the bug is doing: Game loads fine and runs smooth, then either just before you get to choose a pet or a little after while doing the tutorial the game completely freezes?

I have all the newest drivers for Video Audio and DirectX...

nymbis26

Possible solutions: - install 78.01 - check if the GPU is overheating - check AGP aperture size (set it to 128mb) - check AGP speed

The game has been tested on 78.01 before shipping, so this driver version is the more reliable for BW2.

You can download it from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_78.01.html

Quote: --------------------------- BUG REPORT --------------------------- Name of Bug: Graphical glitch Possible cause: Unknown Type of bug: Graphical Your System specs: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 1GB RAM, 4.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 Processor Graphics settings: High What the bug is doing: There are big black splotches upon entering land 2 on some of the other towns, they don't disappear with restarting the game or with adjusting the graphic settings. Also, there appears to be no vegitation and no grass or wheat. Quote: ---

ok so everything works a ok except for one major thing. In the left half of my screen there is a blue square that covers everything its semi transparent but it permates the entire side of that screen if i change graphics reslution all it does is change the size of the box.

do i need to reinstal or is there a bug or somthing.

I would need a screenshot of this problem and details on your configuration (GPU, CPU, RAM, drivers). Can you send this info to Sam please? I'll get back to you and we can find a solution together and post it here for everyone.

Quote: I am currently having the same problem on my desktop computer.

Type of bug: Graphical Your System specs: Nvidia Geforce FX5700LE Driver: 78.01 1024 MB ram DDR PC2700 100gig free HD space directx 9.0c

Not sure what the problem is, but I get better grahpics out of my GeForce4 4200 GO (on my laptop) than I do on a desktop with a card that is generations past this one! Desktop has tiger enabled, my laptop does not. Maybe the tiger patch messes with graphics?

Same as the 5600. In our tests we found that the 5700 runs BW2 worse than the GF4 (which is a pretty good card even if old) and we had to treat it as super minspec.

Quote: name of bug: invisible people pausible cause: no clue Type of bug: graphical i guess Your System specs: 3.06 p4 radeon ati 9100 agp 64mb 692 ddr 333 ram Graphics settings: low what the bug is doing: people dont show up, not much more detail then that, well everything else runs smoothly, but i cant see the people their items are there but nothing else no bodies

Can you contact me through Sam? I've seen this problem only once before. We can find a solution together.

Quote: Graphics settings: tried all of them, same effect. what the bug is doing: Crash my drivers and my windows when it tried to load an intro (I am assuming its an intro since I can hear the sound behind it) it shows a windows message with following text: The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. SAve your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft

Try installing Catalyst 5.9: https://support.ati.com/ics/support...dge&folderID=27

I am an ATI type. I have had Nvidia but stick with my ati. and if this game is demanding in the least it will prolly give the 64 meg cards an issue, especially the 9100's. I don't think they would possess the power necessary to render this game, no matter what drivers you use. Drivers can only do soo much. The cards must have the capability to begin with.

Well when I first start up black and white 2 it runs great, but after about an hour or so the game studders to no end, even if I turn the graphics down to absolute minimum. So I am geussing there is a ram leak.

Sounds like it, do a mem test and see what that says.

that sounds more of a heat issue than a ram issue. You could try taking the side panel off your rig ... May even want to consider reseating the chip with some more thermal paste.

This is not the case, I have very good cooling installed. I have played doom 3 on 1280 1024 high settings for hours on end and it never happens to me. I am really thinking it is a ram leak, I mean even when I start on low settings it still happens. How can I do a memory test?

Geforce fx5700 128mb 512mb RAM Barton 2500 Settings: Medium 800x600 Problem: Fur Rendering, on the Lionhead forums someone was posting that they had the same problem and they suggested tampering with the data file somehow. Also the game is rather sluggish... I know my computer is out of date and I need to upgrade but what would fix my sluggish problem better, seeing as I'm low on moneys and can't decide what to upgrade.

Vid card ? your 2500 is ok .. You can always do with another 512 of ram ... But vid card is where you will see some improvement..Depending on what yours is. Whenever you are going to give specs make sure to include the following. Vidcard: CPU: Ram ( Type ie:Pc2700,3200 and so on. it is nice to know how much, but what type helps also): motherboard: This can help diagnosing some problems, it can be narrowed down to the bios you are using. Or perhaps certain parts that don't like to " play well with others":
