Dont sign with pain, lol.

I have a PS2 but id probably recommend an X-Box. Mostly better games, better graphics, and as far as i know better DVD quality.

Well PS2 has better and more numerous games, Xbox has Halo 2. Xbox's online [Xbox Live] costs money but is far superior to PS2's online which is free but less organised and quality of the online differs between games. Xbox has better graphics as well, but PS2 isnt far behind and graphics dont necessarily make a game good [eg: Super Mario Bros.].

As for DVD quality, better off getting an actual DVD player, the quality on a normal DVD player far surpasses that of a PS2 or Xbox's DVD capabilities, and current DVD player prices would see this to be a better choice as well. PS2's DVD capability comes right out of the box, but you use your controller as the remote, which for the inexperienced, can be a hassle, unless you decide to buy the remote. Xbox's DVD is enabled through purchasing a $50 [here its that price] remote. I suggest getting an actual DVD player and not buying either console for this feature.

i think it all depend's on which type of game's he likes. if he's an all around multi-type gamer, i would suggest the Xbox. if he is a die hard RPG fan, the PS2 has a large collection of RPG's.

i have all the system's and use them all. i do however favor the xbox. (and no, it wasn't the first one i owned, it was the last).
