I’m looking for a poker game that will teach me how to play. I would really appreciate recommendations. Preferably for handheld console

Why don't you just look up the rules? It'll be easy and less stressful than trying to find a "teaching" game. It's not that complicated, anyway, and you can get away without knowing every little detail.

Pair, straight, flush, full house: most important hands. There are variants of each, of course, like a straight-flush or a royal flush or a two-pair, but once you know the basics the rest just kind of comes.

Then again it depends on how "formal" you want your poker game to be. I really only know how to play 5 card stud

Thanks I will do that. Can you recommend a good game that is fun to play?

I didn’t mean teach how to play, I meant learn as I play.

My dad just got one of those hand-held ones for his birthday, which I think we have played more than he has

I find it more fun, though, to sit down with someone and play. Though the constant reshuffling is annoying.

I think that's the one my dad has. It's one of the less complicated ones they have out now, but the site I found it at says it's around $30. Rediculous, if you ask me...
