I just patched to v2.8.3 running Vista and it did the updates and then it keeps kicking me with the message "file mismatch d3d9(forget the rest).dll" Anybody know what to do?
This seems to have an issue with the MD5 tool. It seems you may have a bad file. Did you load any custom files into your base folder ?
After researching the problem, d3d9.dll was edited and used in an old, very popular multi-hack for Call of Duty.
The only logical reason for this file being changed is because you've cheated on Call Of Duty 2, or perhaps AA.
I'd suggest re-downloading d3d9.dll and replacing the one in your C:\WINDOWS\ folder.
I'm not accusing you of cheating, but that is almost the only reason this file would ever need to be edited...
I didn't make it!
also for punkbuster problems (such as MD5 Tool problems and kicks for ignoring PB requests), make sure that PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe are allowed through your firewall. they are found in C:\Windows\System32. also, make sure AALoader.exe (found in C:\Program Files\America's Army\System\AALoader.exe) and ArmyOps.exe (found in C:\Program Files\America's Army\System\ArmyOps.exe) are allowed through. hope that helps.
He has a file mismatch, which is punkbuster communicating with his pc.
The reason for the kick is; PB has detected that file as unusual. The file is a set size, when you buy and install Windows. The only reason for changing it would be to do something which violates the PB agreement.
Therefore you'll get kicked for an 'illegitimate file'...or an MD5 mismatch.
