There is one particular graphic effect that doesn't seem to be rendering properly, perhaps due to my using a low setting. It's typically shown in places where I assume you're supposed to see colored swirling fumes of sort. Instead I see colored cubes. Like when the Assassins appear (invisible lightning guys), and at the end when they show Alma, there are colored cubes rising up off of her.
I was wondering if it's the Particle Bouncing setting, or could it be a graphics glitch in the game maybe? Here are the settings I'm using:
Try a reinstall? I doubt that by lowering the settings that they are going to turn smoke into cubes. Do the standard stuff (Update drivers un-overclock if you are overclcoking etc). Your settings arnt that low anyway. Hope that helps.
@omen, do you mean where alma sometimes appears and dissapears? I got a pic of a corpse where some blood etc is happening. Do your gfx looks the same? it's on vista.
No, I don't think so. It's mainly where very bright pastel colors show, and I'm not even sure those colors are supposed to be there. I've seen it on Assassins and at the end of the game where something is rising off of Alma.
I've seen a video of the Assassins someone made and I don't see the colors in it, so I'm thinking something's wrong. I'm on a second play through now, about to take on the replica training ground challenge.
If I get the same problem when the Assassins appear, I'll make a video of it or take screenshots to show you. Currently I'm playing with Particle Bouncing set to max.
The reason I thought it may have been the settings is because in the Crysis demo I was seeing the smoke coming off a heli I placed via the editor as squares. When I set some of the in game settings higher, then it appeared normal. It was not strangely colored even before the setting change though.
latest updates you did to your dx and graphics card? Well, i noticed some stuff is not on at your gfx menu, my system enabled everything on max and on. Try putting, hdr and ambient and motion on. It smoothens the color and particles. Who knows it does the trick, put aa off?
I'm on XP, there hasn't been any updates for DirectX 9 for some time, and when I check it says I have the latest version. I really prefer Ambient, HDR and Motion Blur OFF. I'm doubting AA has anything to do with it, and it smooths the jaggies nicely.
Truth is, if I go any higher with settings, my frame rates will likely dip a bit too low. As is they're plenty fine, it's just the damn stuttering for the most part. Nothing new to FEAR though, it's just worse now than it used to be.
I'm thinking it may be that I use Omega drivers for my X1950Pro, though every time I think that might be the problem, I switch to the latest Cats and the performance is worse.
Like I said, I'll see if it still shows this play through. There's only a few places in the game where I get that look, so it's no big deal. Not big enough to even try messing with ATI's crap Cats again.
