I looked around the forums and figured this was the best place to put this, but I'm not sure so, moderators, if you'll please, let me know if it's in the right spot.

I'm sure you've all seen threads like this before, but I'm putting together a game team to obviously, create a game. Now, as to what KIND of game it is, I'm not sure, but I've got a few options and I'll jot them down here:

Star Wars Pre-KOTOR era Single/Multiplayer RPG (non-Star Wars based, New Galaxy) WWI Era (Never been done extensively) Aviation (All eras i.e WWI, WWII, Korea, and Modern) First Person Shooter

That's about all I've got right now. Below is everything required for such a game, which we would need to get any game made.

Scenerist/Writers for storyline - Only taking 2 requests. Samples of writing required for acceptance. Modders - Requires extensive knowledge of gaming engines and the requirements for whichever genre we choose. Skinners - Samples of work required. Modellers - Samples of work required. Must demonstrate extensive knowledge of any or all modelling programs. Concept Artists - Samples of work required. Coders - I'm not sure if this also falls under modding, but just to be on the safe side, I've included it. A sample program should be submitted but is not required. Knowledge of Lua, C#, C++, C, or AJAX is acceptable. Visual Basic is recommended for low-level coders.

If you're interested, send me an E-mail at hudaw@live.com Inform me on which position you'll wish to take. I will be attempting to get us some forums, and some server space. Those of you that are good with PHP, HTML, and/or CSS may also apply to help run the forums/website.

Thank you for your time.

What game engine?

Also, not original options.

Why not try a fantasy FPS, like Halo but without all the gayness that Halo is?

First of all, don't bash Halo. xD

Secondly, really, at this point, nothing is original except the WWI idea.

No clue on the engine. I wanna get the plotline, concepts, and ideas done before we decide on the engine

So I guess maybe what I really need right now are writers and concept artists, but anything else would do. Model concepts would be great as well.

If you've got any ideas, feel free to contribute.

For some reason, I can't figure out that acronym.

star craft 2

And to be honest the only thing that is going to be awesome on the map editor is going to be scripting. I doubt it will be very flexible.

For more flexibility I recommend you try working on either dow 2 or coh. Plus considering that there is at least some LUA used...

If you want awesomeness, try Source. If it's too complicated or too big of a task, then you can try a simpler one such as Xreal. It's iD tech 3 updated i think. The iD tech 3 engine is good, but not that powerful, and outdated modding tools makes difficult to produce quality work that would meet the standard of today's games.

The last team I was on used the XReal engine, and we were have very little difficulties, but I also want something that will look good, not just play easily. But graphic appeal comes 3rd. Story and playability come before anything else.

Any takers?

I recommend Source, then. The SDK is free, Valve is very supportive of their modding community etc. etc. If you're lucky and your mod is good enough, who knows, it might be turned into a full retail game. Only luck will tell.

Why don't you create a story before a game. Also, forget making a Star Wars game, lest you get sued by Lucasarts.

Also you could try the UnrealEngine3, aka UDK. It's free, you can sell your stuff for free (until you go over $5,000 in profit, then you must pay 25% to Epic Games), better graphics than Source, can handle higher quality sound (.ogg), much less restrictions, console portability and more.
