#1 13 years ago - Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Exclusive Hell March Trailer HD

Now for some reason this just seems a disappointment to me. The engine isn't that shiny, for all the water effects are nice, and after playing SupCom, Sins of a Solar Empire etc the scale just doesn't seem that - epic. Strategic zoom and its accompanying tactical automation introduced to real time strategy games a difference as profound as the first group select function. Think about it all group select allows you to do is to throw around more units with greater ease, exactly the same as strategic zoom. So as the greatness of Hellmarch plays in the background I can't rather help but think Red Alert 3 and all the other strategy games clinging to a very inflexible camera with low levels of tactical automation have been somewhat beaten to the punch without even realising it.

The water looks pretty good. The waves upon impacts and whatnot, but the overall feel was pretty gimmicky, and arcade like. Perhaps this installment is geared for the younger demographic or something?

I agree that SupCom is far superior with its mechanics and atmosphere, but you have to admit, that RA3 water was pretty damn cool.

To me it looks like its going to be sticking true to the style of play/look of the original Red Alert games.

Plus that water is just beautiful

SupCom and the CNC3 series are similar but quite different. It's like comparing Halo to FarCry... similar but not really.

Anyways, RA3 looks super cool, graphically and with new structures, plot, etc. I'm really excited for this. This, FarCry2 and ClearSkies are what I'm looking forward to.

They're going for a different aim. As with Tiberium Wars, they are aiming for more retro gameplay rather than focusing on doing anything groundbreaking or making more "strategic" games.

It's nice, but I'm puzzled by the use of sound clips (especially voices) from the older CnC games in the trailer. (At 1:03 you can hear the GI's voice from RA2, and later there is also the announcement 'unit under attack' from CnC 3) Maybe they haven't fully developed sound for it yet.

^Makes sense, sounds not really important in the mid-stages of game development.

Nemmerle;4348662and after playing SupCom, Sins of a Solar Empire etc the scale just doesn't seem that - epic.

Since when has C&C ever been about epic battles like Supreme Commander etc are? It's a different type of strategy game.

It looks very disappointing to me, still hoping a lot will change along with all the Red Alert 2 sounds, the buildings and units seem to.. stick out from the environment when you compare it to c&c3. Probably due to the heavy use of primary red and blue but this... makes me sick. :uhm:

Here is to hope!
