I thought we should spend a thread looking back at some of the relics of pc gaming. The games that came in floppy disc format. The games that gave us so much joy and pleasure. This thread is to remember the old games. What were your favourites? Commander Keen Alone in the Dark One must fall Hocus Pocus I remember the days....... some great games. :bows:

You're pretty young to remember those games. Nonetheless, I'm glad to know someone still appreciates the classics. Those were all really fun.

My favorite classics in no particular order:

Doom Descent TIE Fighter Bioforge Solar Winds Castles 2: Siege and Conquest Darksun: Shattered Lands Ultima VI: The False Prophet Star Trek 25th Anniversary

Ok, well there are too many to list. I love the oldies. I still have a HUGE collection of old games though, including some on 3.5 inch diskettes.

It's still possible to play most of them using emulators like DosBox, and there are number of abandonware sites like Home of The Underdogs where many of them can be downloaded for free.

Hey, what about the Infocom games. I have always considered them to be the start of the gaming craze. Zork started it all in my opinion, the first game I ever played. Payed $60 for it at the time (1985?) and ran it on my brand new Kaypro PC with a whopping 724KB RAM and a 30MB Hard drive. Ahhh, those were the days (yeah, right). I bought a second 30MB hard drive for it (around $300) and thought, I'll never need any more space than 60MB. Now I have 4GB of RAM and 300GB of hard drive space and probably could use a bit more. I learned long ago that "never need any more" is never true with PCs. But, those Infocom games were a blast. I think I've played them all.

Does anyone remember that really old game, Syndicate?

That was kick ass!
