This is pissing me off. Alright, I bought some Diablo II clone, and there is something wrong with the Resolution of the game. My screen is pretty huge, so when I open the game, there is a big ass black bar underneath the main menu and the whole game screen is kind of forced up, I open the Options to fix it, but the Resolution section on the Graphics menu are hidden, because that part of the Screen is forced up. Is there anything I can do?

Use your monitor's buttons to adjust it. Most have an auto-adjust, or a menu to change the horizontal/vertical position. Also try waiting more than an hour for someone to reply.

Is it the game "Restricted Area"? I've read about this very problem with that game, as I recall.

You might try changing your desktop resolution to something else (higher, lower, it's too early for me to think) and then attempting to access the games setting menu to change it to whatever you desire.

Also, if you check the respective game's website or readme file, you might be able to find a shortcut executable switch that you can force the resolution with.

I have a question, I though resolution was the size of the screen's display? Is resolution the quality of the picture?

I don't see any Resolution button.

I have a question, I though resolution was the size of the screen's display?

The size of the display would be something like 17" or 19", etc. Some displays (like LCDs) have native resolutions, which they recommend you run them at. But standard (CRT) monitors are capable of a wide array of resolutions.

Is resolution the quality of the picture?

In a nutshell, yes. Resolution would be how sharp of a picture it is displaying. The higher the resolution you run, the better images and games will look. So running 1024x768 resolution will look better than running 800x600. And running 1600x1200 would look even better. But, the higher the resolution you run, the more it taxes your hardware, particularly your video card. The framerate will suffer if you aren't running good enough hardware. When adjusting your resolution, make small changes to see how it affects performance.

I don't see any Resolution button.

To change your desktop resolution, you can either go to the Start Menu, select "Control Panel" and then "Display", or just right click on an empty area of the desktop and select "Properties". Once the "Display Properties" window is up, select the "Settings" tab, and on the bottom of that is where you can change your screen resolution. In games, usually there is a video settings menu which you can change the resolution for that particular game, but doesn't affect your desktop resolution setting.

MoH, and RtCW had the same problem. To the best of my ability, what I did was press Ctrl Alt Enter on the keyboard. If that doesn't work try Ctrl Alt Backspace. Try those and tell me if it works.

Well, I tihnk it's a Resolution problem. There is a black bar at the bottom of my screen, and I can't fix it, because It forces part of my screen up. What is that called? Well, the game's Resolution menu in the graphics options section, if I toy with that, the bar usually goes away, but the Resolution Bar is hidden because the screen is forced up. Stupid Game designers.

Basiclly, the forced up part of the game blocks the resolution ajustment.

And everyone, thanks for your help, keep me updated, this is pissing my off. Dr. Fritz, my desktop is fine, but do you want me to push contol-alt whatever ingame?

Do you have an LCD monitor? If so, press the "Auto-Adjust" button. My friend was having a problem like this in battlefield 1942, and I just pressed that button when i came over, and it worked like a charm.
