I am having big problems getting JO to play with a decent FPS on even low detail with everything turned off.

I get on average 20 or less FPS which is rubbish considering my computer is less than a month old and i built for games. My Machine is a P4 3.0 With HT 512 MB ram pc2100 Ati Radeon 9800 pro on a GA-8IPE1000 PRO-G MBO Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hmmmmm, your system seems equipped to play it. Well here goes. YOu have got the optional fps update now? Your playing on relatively low ping servers? If your playing 150 player games, fps can suffer, so 20 fps isn't too bad for a huge game like that? Right if you have checked all that stuff. Here's something that will help Go to your Gmae.Cfg file, open with notepad [I would also back it up] Scroll down to lock_framerate and change the 1 to a 0. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help the game is running better now with 48fps and thats with detail on medium on games of about 80 players+. I may get some faster ram (PC 3200 2x512) which i hope should increse performance even more.

Not sure if Nova has fixed it but JO used to have issues with Radeon cards so try and update your catalyst drivers.

HI

Was having same problems.

Have had great increase in perfrormance all arounf by going with Omega Drivers (44.03). Much better.

Oh, lso, make sure your Hyperthreading is not on.

HT is good for multi tasking when running several programs but or gaming, no good. Or so I read in articles.

Best

It might sound funny but if you turn your sound quality down a notch or two your fps will increas dramatically as well... (source NovaWorld forum)

obviously the x800 will give you better performance. make sure you have fast write turned on and your AGP setting is at 8x...this can all be found in the bios. The ram will just make levels load quicker.
