In the continuing saga of "How Not To Develop Games", Hello Games are proceeding down the drain.

Earlier today, out of the blue, the official Hello Games Twitter account tweeted out "No Man's Sky was a mistake". Nothing more, nothing less. Of course, people panicked a bit. Such an admission can be devastating for a company. After a few minutes, the Tweet was deleted again, but not after picking up dozens of retweets and likes.

In a subsequent e-mail to Polygon, Sean Murray confirmed that the Tweet was genuine and it was from him, but somebody on his team took it down. He also revealed that Hello Games haven't been coping well lately.

But it doesn't end there. In another e-mail, sent out from an address associated with Hello Games, the company claims that the Tweet was made by a disgruntled employee and that they're investigating the matter.

On his personal Twitter account, Mr. Murray have been joking about servers being hacked, and binging on Mr. Robot episodes to find a solution. He also seemed to blame Linked In for the hack, saying that the only mistake was not using 2FA on Linked In.

Thoughts? It seems like it was a genuine tweet from Sean Murray, and the Hello Games have gone into damage control mode.

They're clearly having an internal crisis on the basis of No Man's Sky.

Everyone I know who ever bought the thing got it refunded, so, yeah.

"Mikey"hacked

That's the official line, but it's not what actually happened. Not unless their incompetence extends past game development and onto infrastructure and security.

Someone had a mental breakdown, and saying 'hacked' is the usual save-face PR line that most people spin after a drunk or ill-thought tweet.

I think the telling thing is that the person that had the breakdown was probably Murray himself. He is, honestly, the guy that has been the target for the shit-flinging against Hello Games. It's not surprising if he cracked.

No, just American.
