Hey everyone, Since Ive discovered my recent addiction to online role playing games, I wish to find a certain type of one :) One thing I absouloutely hate is the Fantasy genre. Im looking for something along the setting of : medievil, War, Modern Times, Future. If possible I would like a bit of Combat preferably FPS in it. I dont care if its a free download or a retail game. Cheers, and thanks in advance.

Well, you could try Face of Mankind for starters, but I thought it wasn't that great. It's free, at least for now, but at a whopping 600mb installer download and another couple of hundred mbs updates, standing at over 2gb fully installed, I expected more. War? ->Battlefield series Modern War?->Battlefield 2

i agree faces of mankind is cool, you should try deus ex or deus ex:invisable war, it first person shooter but it also role playing, part from that i cant think of many futre or war rpg's.

If you're going to be in RPG's, the most you're going to find are fantasy RPG's sadly. Not to many future ones I can think of. If you can ever bear to play a fantasy RPG, here are some. Try the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It's a single player, but it is by far one of the greatest RPG's I've played- Good gameplay and tons of mods. Its sequel, oblivion, is looking really promising as well. Baldur's Gate II Neverwinter Nights I've also have heard that these are great as well.

You can hold on till Hellgate: London next year. That will be one hell of a game. Until then you could always try something like Anarchy Online which is free. Or try Eve: Online, which is what I'm playing on at the moment, if you get on my name is "Grimme" [surprise surprise]. There's a free trial availible via gamers hell: https://secure.eve-online.com/ft/?sk=GHELL.

Yeah, Hellgate: London looked pretty good, not sure when it's coming out, though.

I have both Face of Mankind, and Battlefield 2, though before I play Battlefield 2 I am waiting for the next patch to come out, and maybe a few more mulitplayer maps on servers close to where I live. With face of Mankind, the next set off updates is due out on September 19th, and is the last lot before it goes retail. Alot of new things are being added and Im looking forward to it. and Hellgate: London? sounds interesting, Ill take a look at it.

There's this other FPS online game too, called GunZ (www.gunzonline.com).

It's open Beta at the moment. It's not a traditional RPG; you fight in servers much like a normal FPS, only you still level up and can buy better weapons and armour. Try it out, it's actually quite fun and addictive.
